SWA's website states the following

3Southwest Airlines defines "Pilot in Command" as the Pilot responsible for the operation and safety of the aircraft during flight. This definition is taken from PART I of the FAR. Southwest Airlines further allows logging of PIC as follows: For an aircraft requiring a type rating: If both pilots are type rated, the pilot in the left seat and sole manipulator of the controls may log PIC. If only one pilot is type rated only that pilot may log PIC, regardless of seat position. For aircraft not requiring a type rating: Only the pilot in the left seat and sole manipulator of the controls may log PIC. ..."

Can I log CFI time?
What if the student is rated in the aircraft and is sole-manipulator?

I am assuming I can since Part 1 of the FARs makes me responsible when instructing, although I may not be "sole-manipulator."

I am not a CFI but in my interview on Monday I was asked if CFI time was added in my total PIC. I pointed out that I was not a CFI and that was all that was said about it.

I am not sure, but I think they expect you to log your CFI time as PIC but they just want to see how much of your "logged PIC" time is time you actually flew the A/C.

Hope that helps.

"for an aircraft requiring a type rating: If both pilots are type rated, the pilot in the left seat and sole manipulator of the controls may log PIC."

While receiving Capt. IOE I logged it as SIC time even though I was type rated and sitting left seat. Technically I wasn't PIC until the completion of IOE and line check.

I just realized you ave to fill out the ENTIRE application at one sitting, otherwise if you log off it will not save each section you have completed. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for the replies.
