Minimum Requirements for Consideration
USA DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP)
2,500 hours total flight time, or 1,500 hours total flight time in a turbine aircraft
A minimum of 1,000 hours in a turbine aircraft as the PIC. Only time in a fixed wing aircraft is
counted toward this minimum; this specifically excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV,
EWO, and UAV.
Actively flying for two of the last five years preferred
High school diploma or equivalency required
Four year degree from an accredited school desired
B737 type rating is not necessary for interview, but will be required for employment.

Not that I'm aware of. Back in 2005 you couldn't fill out the app without the 1000 turbine pic. I'm betting its still true.

who cares? ya still building your PIC for the majors? As an FO, you still bring in plenty of coin, and you don't have to fill out IR's for this and that every other week.

They are setting up a 737 type rating course for the transitioning AT people.

So one could hope that someday that requirement will be gone, But for now you can submit, interview and decide when the time comes.

Two in my class just a few years ago were hired without the type. 1000 pic IS required. I was told by the hiring lady 1200 to 1500 is best but it never hurts to try

I got hired without a type although I told them if I'm hired I'll be on the phone calling Higher Power same day. It worked out.

B-737 Type Rating
("B-737 CIRC.APCH.-VMC ONLY" is the only permitted limitation for the "B-737" type rating requirement.)

"English Proficient" limitation.
Plastic certificate (plastic not required if the certificate is a valid temporary certificate.)

Process

Behind all current SWA and AT pilots. If hired in January lets say, there would be about 1000 pilots still needing to transition to SWA. When they do, they are all senior to you.
