/PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) and AirTran Airways today announced additional service coming to Milwaukee. Beginning Sept 6, 2011, AirTran will add two daily roundtrips between Milwaukee and Des Moines, IA, as well as two daily roundtrips between Milwaukee and Akron-Canton, OH. Also on Sept. 6, 2011, Southwest Airlines will initiate two daily roundtrips between Milwaukee and St. Louis, MO, and a daily roundtrip to Denver, adding to the once daily trip AirTran already makes to the Mile-High city.
"As we continue to integrate AirTran into Southwest, we have the opportunity to provide new Customer itineraries out of terrific cities like Milwaukee," said Bob Jordan, Southwest's Executive Vice President Strategy and Planning and President of AirTran Airways. "Cities like Des Moines, Akron-Canton, and St. Louis will benefit from additional capacity to Milwaukee, from the options that have been available. Likewise, Milwaukee travelers get additional opportunities through cities like St. Louis and Denver, to connect virtually anywhere on the broader Southwest Airlines network."
AirTran's marketing partnership with SkyWest Airlines will end, effective Sept. 6, 2011. AirTran will contact all affected Customers to assist with travel options, including those announced today.

"In working together with AirTran, I think we have an excellent plan for providing more capacity and options to Milwaukee," Jordan said. "AirTran and Southwest have each achieved great success in Milwaukee, and Southwest remains committed to that market with a combined total of more than 50 daily departures to more than 20 nonstop destinations."

Redflyer,

Congrats on your new service from MKE to Akron, Des Moines, and St Louis. That 717 will be fun for you, in the right seat.

Bye Bye---General Lee

It officially ends the Skywest service, replaced by SW and AT jets along with additional flying. This is very good news, great work by SWAPA and good to see management do the right thing.

Indeed.

Congrats to Southwest Management and SWAPA for understanding how important this is.

Since I make more in the right seat then a delta captain in the left seat its not a problem for me but apparently it is for you.

Really? According to APC, Top pay for your FO seat is $147 a trip or an hour. Dc9 Capts at DL make $157 an hour, and that is the bottom scale. Both of those are at the 12th year rate. Some may say SWA FOs fly more, but so do DL pilots, especially in the Summer. You're probably wrong. Godspeed in your SLI.

He's not, we fly way more than guarantee which is way more than DL.

Good luck in ATL.

Greenslips, double pay on your days off, are being handed out like candy lately. DL already owns 70% of ATL traffic. You are the group that needs luck in ATL. Those Airtran pilots are so lucky though, being the group that will benefit most in your merger. They will love that pay parity. Darn nice of you guys.
