The amazing 717? If that is so great, why did they stop building them?

Um, maybe because MD was bought by Boeing? The 717 is a great airplane. Why would Boeing try to market an aircraft designed by someone else that directly competes with their own product? They bought MD to be rid of a competitor...sound familiar? Same reason AirTran won't exist in a year or two.

Why are all you debating about this SLI stuff anyway? You're only causing bad juju to be spread between both groups. Our merger committees/arbitrator(s) are the only people that have any control over this. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight. See you all on the line in the future.

Ty- since you like to masturbate - let me throw a question out-
How is money....valueless in your world?

What gave it away? The hairy palms? Or the thick glasses?:erm:

It's not that money is valueless, but contractual hourly pay rates are not a "bargaining chip". What if SWA was the airline that paid less, should be demand your captain seats to keep our FO's making what they were making? Of course not. . . . So why would you expect to do the opposite?

We come to this merger bringing fully-utilized airplanes with a pilot in every seat. If the seniority list is made larger by 1800 pilots, but no one moves up or down in the new list, it doesn't affect you. Seniority, however, when you start messing with that, it does affect both parties, one negatively.

So you admit that you would be getting a windfall for your group.

Again what do you bring to the table that is fair and equitable for the Southwest Pilot Group?

The amazing 717? If that is so great, why did they stop building them?

50 orders for 737-700s? We have 84 confirm orders that will be converted to -800s this December and another 130 options.

Tunica, Ms.? Well we have Lubbock! Top that!

What do you bring?

You tell him brother! They should be thankful just to be a "southwest pilot."[/sarcasm]

You can always tell those pesky Air Tran guys that you had to buy your job when they didn't have to! Take that Air Tran!

Yeah, spud, I don't get where pay scale even entered into this conversation. Under both ALPA merger/frag and Bond/McCaskill, the term "windfall" refers to an unwarranted increase in seniority at the expense of others.

It most certainly does NOT refer to pay and/or work rules.

Me thinks some SWA guys are trying to use this as a red herring to "put Air Tran pilots in their place."

Look, this is simple. Put the pre-1993 SWA hires on the list. Then figure out the ratio of the remaining pilots and use it. No bump/no flush and the list is done. Simple.

Of course, that doesn't account for individual greed, but the arbitrator won't take that into consideration either.
