Can anyone tell me when the board meets in April, and if you don't make through the interview, how long it take to get a letter?

If I were a betting man, I'd say the Apr 18-20 timeframe. Could possibly be the Apr 11-13 timeframe, but I'd bet on the first set of days.

Calls and letters would start going out about a week after the DB. Letters can take longer, sometimes up to two weeks after the DB.

Good luck!

If I don't make it pass the interview, how long before I get a thanks but no thanks letter? Within a week?

I am also meeting the April DB. My understanding is that everyone goes to the DB, even if you flunked the interview.

good luck guys! Hope to see you on board.

Thanks Benhuntn

Runway, My references have not been called yet, but I just interviewed last Thursday. I 'm not worried yet. I think SWA interviews for two weeks, then they start the background checks. When was your interview? No reference calls is a definite bad sign, but I think the only deadline the company has for that is before the DB. Hang tough. They'll get to you.

Letters will arrive starting about 5 days after the board meets. Calls go out as soon as the next day after the board meets. By the time you get the letter...it's only 11 months to go till we're eligible for the 2nd interview. :-)

references called = good thing

I interviewed on a Tuesday. The following Monday all four of my references were called. I also got the call at 430PM the day of the DB from one of the chief pilots. The others in my interview group that had references called, had about the same time frame (7 calendar days, or so). BTW, my Tuesday interview was during the first week of interviews for the month

Interviewed on a Monday, refs called following Thursday...after a very difficult wait....DB on a Thursday, call to continue on the following Tuesday. Hope this helps.

References called does not mean a sure thing.

True-not a sure thing

You are right. It does not mean you get the call. I personally know several folks who had references checked but did not get the call from SWA. You still have to get past the DB with the chief pilots. But it is definitely a step in the right direction.

Nobody I know who interviewed this month has had references called yet so I wouldn't be concerned.

RunwayHog,

One of my references just got called (they got his voicemail, but he called me before calling them back) so it is starting.

Update: 4 out of 11 I interviewed with had references called yesterday. Hopefully the rest of us will follow unless we were so good they are skipping the calls.:D

Anyone know of anyone who got hired but didn't have their references called? Just curious if it is a definitive indicator.

It's been almost two years since my first interview and would like to check in. Could someone PM me Melissa's D's current number. It seems it has changed. Thanks in advance & good luck to those waiting...

Hey flying guy,

Having refs called don't mean squat. I didn't have any called and got hired. I have lots of friends that did get their refs called and didn't get the job. So don't read too much into refs called or not called.

That's good to know since mine haven't been called!

Any idea what determines if references are called or not? Does it have any correlation to the strength of the recommendation letters? I am guessing if they were strong and authentic perhaps they wouldn't need to do any phone calls. Do you know what it was in your case?

Do you have reason to think your interviews were that bad?

From our email loop with the others in our group they checked 7 of 17 and four of us got the call. From what other threads have said it is a good sign but not a sure thing.
If the call does come it is a great feeling. I wake up each morning and have to ask my wife if I was just dreaming. If you don't get it I do know several people that tryed 2 and one guy 3 times before they got it. Good luck....the wait is the hardest part.

T2pilot, I Thought The Interview Went Really Good. But As You Know What You Think May Not Be What Happened In The Eyes Of The Southwest Interview Team. I'm Still Waiting! Its Been 9 Days And No References Checked Yet. I've Been Kicked Before, I Can Take Another Kicking. 2nd Time I've Interviewed, If I Get A Letter I Don't Think I'll Go Back Again. Maybe I'm Not What They Are Looking For.
