Hilarious! Enjoy your 20 year upgrade!
Newjetjockey:
SWA has 25 -500's and 250+ 300's which are classics and all roads lead to replacing these AC with newer AC.
Well-played, sir...I found a pic of one of the upgrades that SWA is ordering for the overhead:

So psyched!
And the haters hate....truly pathetic guys. You'll find just about anything to bash SWA huh?! From an outsider, it makes you all look pretty sad.

How about your Airtran 717 brethren you raked over the coals? What will they make over the next few years? Good for you, the MOST SUCCESSFUL AIRLINE EVER!!! Way to take it to your brothers!
Godspeed!
OYS
Let's see...
The General's thing seems to be LBB. Your thing seems to be Airtran and culture. You know, as much as we all appreciate your concern, I think we'll be okay. But to answer your question, our Airtran 717 brethren, that we "raked over the coals," will be making exactly the same as they're making now, i.e. Airtran rates, for the next coupla years. They start transitioning over in Feb or Mar (starting with 737 guys, I believe), so many per month, and the most junior ones might be there up to three years. If we can replace the 717s before then with 737s, then they'll come over to the SWAPA side sooner. At any rate, at the point they transition, they'll make the standard SWAPA rates. Don't know exactly what that'll be (profit-based variable raises and all), but I can damn well say it'll be more than YOU will be making. Does THAT answer your question? Anything else I can help you with? Fantastic.

Speaking of the General...
Since he doesn't seem to be around lately, let me respond in his stead:
"SWA made 150 firm orders for the 737 Max? What?! Obviously, that's the end of Southwest! The 737 Max is a crappy plane that can only fly to LBB! They can't afford it; their culture's gone; they're all gonna' get their pay slashed or furloughed; they're all heathens!"
Does that sound about right? Did I miss anything?
Bubba
Is that your proctologist calling? I'm sure he'll advise you to use lube next time.
It appears like they still didn't get an automatic digital control system for temps, just because SWA was scared to teach their pilots how to use them.
OYS and General Lee:
I can tell you with 101% certainity that SL10 (the ratified integration) has met the yard stick which is applied to most 'fair' seniority list integrations. For those of you unfamiliar with this axiom, fairness is achieved when everyone (or nearly everyone) is equally disappointed with the result.
Clearly there were winners (our senior FOs) and loosers (new hire SWA pilots post announcement) at SWA.
I will defer to the perspective of an Air Tran pilot to share their thoughts on who won and loss.
From my perspective, a SWA-CA, this merger did not increase my career earnings projections. What it did, post 2015, is for a time put acquired pilots in front of me (class of 2001) for bidding (vacation and open time).
I am sure each of us has our opinion of whether the agreement was fair.
Let the ruminations and posturing begin ...
Sounds like someones jealous.
Why is it bad news for the newhire SWA pilot? Just curious?
Don't let these future aircraft orders get you folks all het up into a false sense of security. AA made one of the largest aircraft orders in the history of commercial aviation and then promptly filed for bankruptcy. Hopefully for the junior guys this will give some hope for upgrade before retirement, but at the end of the day it is primarily a replacement order to keep up with the Jones'.
On the internal web board there are some upset guys that were in the pool and "expected better" apparently... We'll leave that for internal discussion!
When you show up for class no,w as a new hire, you should know what to expect, until the next merger (and their will be a NEXT merger!)
It's still the best place you could be working in this business PERIOD!
Later,
KBB
What should a new hire expect?? That there will be another merger?
How long should a new hire expect to hang out in Oakland at the present predicted hiring rate?
Who knows about OAKLAND, too many things in flux right now, WHAT if the SENIOR A/T Guys ALL commuted from the west Coast, Theoretically, they could produce some huge movement, Hypothetical YES, Possible Maybe! Guess we'll know something more tomorrow (I think the A/T pilot bid closes tomorrow, 12-15-2011!)
LATER,
KBB
I am glad a Frontier pilot can tell all our new guys how gloom and doom it is at SWA. I hate to burst your bubble but our new hies are going to have the time of there life. I would trade w/ them in a second.
Unlike you, I do wish you guys the best.
Ol F9 reminds of the string quartet that stands on the deck of the ship in Titanic and plays their instruments as the ship fills with H2o.
