Isn't this just a board for opinions anyway?

Back to JB at DAL. What's everyone concerned about? JB wouldn't serve DAL with more than a couple flights a day just like their recent JFK-Houston Hobby announcement.

Sorry to add this about JB pay.

We are using 12 year rates for comparison. However, the most senior Captain at JB maybe has 7 years on the property.

To make a fair comparison, we need to look at a 7 year Captain at LCC, UAUA, AMR, CAL, NWAC, SWA, vs. a 7 year Captain at JB. Here, you'd see that JB still lags NWAC, AMR, and CAL by a 10-15% margin. However, the pay is the same when compared to UAUA and LCC. There's definitely some room for improvement.

Check out these rates:

the same article in USA Today said it was "close".

No, Delta was a "close" second to Continental. SWA wasn't close at all (730 IIRC). In fact, of the four airlines in the LCC category, three of them were below the mean score (735). That's how far ahead that JetBlue scored (820). That's not to brag, merely to correct an apparent misconception.

Just because there are no 12 year Captains at jB doesn't mean you shouldn't compare 12 year rates. It gives an idea of what one would aspire to earn at that point in their career. 12 years at SW versus 12 at jB. It also gives you a sense of where you will top out on the longevity scale at each airline.

You should compare other time frames as well, but it is still a valid comparison at 12.

JMHO.

If we are going to look at JB incentive pay I guess we should include SWA VJA opportunities ... In the end hard pay today isn't nearly as important as career earnings, but how do you predict that? I'm sti;; crossing my fingers that I never print out another resume!

Jesus Christ....can't we all just get long? You all sound like a bunch of ninnies comparing who is making more money. Just fly your line, enjoy your job and be happy you are not at some regional making REAL peanuts for pay while having to commute in to some god forsaken ******************** hole crash pad with rats crawling around in it while waiting on a chance to actually fly while you are on your never-ending reserve groundhog line.

Parents: Where are your children?

Some of you guys need to go to "time out" for arguing. This isn't a JB vs. SWA issue. I think JB is helping SWA position by voicing their opposition to the WA compromise. Now ya'll are throwing stones at each other. Any excuse for a flight will do...Go to your rooms!

This thread reminds me of why the occasional proposal to have a Nationwide (all carriers) combined pilots' union will NEVER, EVER work. We'll be too busy kicking each other in the nuts instead of cooperating for better wages and work rules.

First and Foremost---AA's and SWA's competitors want this debate to continue. They don't want either to gain anything.

They could probably care less if the WA stays or goes. They just don't want a compromise that creates something good for AA OR SWA.

Uncertainty doesn't let AA or SWA take full advantage of market opportunities. And that gives JetBlue, and others, an advantage.
