yes it seems it is the exception. i had all 3 called and my friends who have been hired have as well.
personally i do not know any but according to past posts around here there are some that have been hired without refs called.
best of luck to you.

yes they have. also, I just flew with a guy that was hired after his FOURTH interview. Never give up!

That is such a nice bike....I fell in love with the Vrod after strolling into a dealership one day. I hope I can get that call next summer so I can get one someday. Enjoy it.

What do they ask your references when they call them? Just finished my type. I guess I'll interview with in the next 6 wks...hopefully. I just want to tell my refs. what to expect.

Thx. :)

The right stuff? well...I'm sure, now I just have to get the PD to agree with me. :D No interview yet. They just barely started calling guys without types in the last 2 months or so...usually check airmen somewhere. All of my buddies that went through the 737 type at HPA have gotten the interview call in 2-6 weeks after class completion.

2-6 weeks from type to call??

That is impressive if all the guys you know are getting interveiws that soon. I know of many (at least a dozen) who did not get the call for 6 months or so. However, things may have changed; I got my type in Jan 05 (HPA) and got called in Aug 05 for an interview in Sep! If things have moved up to where interviews are being scheduled that quickly, that is good news for a lot of people, but I would not be upset/surprised if you end up waiting a few months. Good luck!!

i have heard stories of a few guy getting the job without refs being called, but clearly 98% of the time not getting refs called is a bad sign and i have got that straight from the CPs and people on the interview team. so if you are in that boat you can hang on to some hope but be realistic about what it means. hope the calls keep going...

they confirm that they wrote the Letter of Recommendation that they have, that they still feel the same way the LOR reads and then ask a few basic questions like "what are his/her best traits, why would she be good at SWA" etc.

The only bad sign is if you receive the letter to try again in 12 months. Good luck...I know the wait is difficult (remember it's Happy Hour some where in the world right now!)

It probably has to do with the fact that they separate the civilian folks from the military and draw/call from different pools.
