so what happened there anyway. Did they forget to turn off the packs and bleeds during de-icing? Or turn them on too early afterward?

The E190...all bleeds/packs are off. Then 1 min after spraying stops, bleeds on...then 3 mins after spraying the packs come back on. I don't know the procedure for the 737.

One minute after, bring everything back on.

From what I heard, the flight crew did everything right.

De-ice crew started in before crew notified them they were configured.

I lost track of how many times the deicers flamed out the APU.

So much for having an Eskimo on the tail....

Good. I'm glad this suit has been filed. ALK mgt once again shown up by $8/hr, ill-trained Menzies contractors. When will they realize they get what they pay for?

Huh?

Propylene Glycol (the non-toxic stuff) is used in Aircraft De-Icing in the U.S.

Ethylene Glycol (the more toxic stuff) is used in Automobile Anti-Freeze.

We use Propylene Glycol in the lower 48, but ethylene glycol in Alaska, since it's so cold.

Didn't the company originally say the plane was de-iced with propylene, but later it admitted (stated?) it was ethylene?

Yes. C.B. sent out that notice on the ALPA board.

Also I heard that what happened was you had two jets pushed for de-ice. MX was in contact with the wrong airplane and when they asked the crew if they had the airplane configured, they began spraying. They were just at the wrong plane.
