I am currently flying for SWA so the CASS thing is not a problem. Anyone have experience on the Germany thing. It will be my first time to jumpseat int'l. Tell me the easiest way guys and any pitfalls I need to be aware of.

Thanks in advance.

United

How about UAL out of either ORD or IAD. Nonstop 777 or 747-4. Should be not a problem. ID, Pilot cert.,Medical cert., Passport. I think American does it as well albeit maybe from different stations. We go to FRA and MUC. Have a good flight.

Lufthansa goes CLT to MUC daily on an Airbus 340. I would try jump seating with them just for a change. Hopefully they showered.

...

I have jumseated through JFK and CVG quite a few times going back home to the fatherland...not sure where you are coming from...

Oh, Sorry, so specific info for you guys would help wouldn't it...

I live in Chicago, so ORD is preferable or IAD is OK too.

Maybe, my naivety is kicking in but I had no idea we could jump on Luftansa???

Is it some sort of United Star Alliance thing?

Plus guys, how do you get through security on the other side? Do I need to meet the fight crew at the hotel? To escort me?

Or will the outbound crew give me the gouge..

BIRDMAN thanks

The CASS thing is a problem because CASS is a DOMESTIC program good for travel within the 50 States.

You will need a seat in the cabin. Also, Lufthansa will not let you jumpseat. It is a US airline thing. You can probably buy a pass on LH through your pass bureau. Foreign airlines tend not to upgrade your seat.

United now takes unlimited and I hear they take real good care of you...big comfy seat. They also fly non-stop out of ORD.

Also try US Airways out of PHL - two flights to FRA and one to MUC. There is also a CLT to FRA flight.

Continental is good but they generally don't upgrade you, same goes for Northwest.

People say Delta will give you a nice seat too, I've just never used them. I believe they have non-stops out of CVG, JFK, ATL.

Good luck!

I have jumpseated internationally with Delta and United, they both upgraded me when they could. I hear U.S. Airways is also great for international JS. On the way over stop by the ticket counter and pay the taxes, then go to the gate. When you get there and you are deplaining, I would ask one of the gate agents what you will need to do to js back. There may also be some taxes you will need to pay on the way back. I learned about taxes the hard way!

Cactus and Jacko thanks a bunch.

I shall let you guys know how it goes. I plan on going skiing in January!

I'm going to put my hands in the fine folks at UAL. Very conveinent and have had a great deal of luck domestically.

I think I'll buy a couple of ID90's just in case...

Thanks again all, and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays (p.c. version ;)

Our passes on Lufthansa are pretty cheap. I get passes on them from DFW and IAH to FRA about twice a year and they usually come to less than $170 r/t. Good backup to have if the jumpseat doesn't workout and they are fully refundable. Just boardmail them back to the pass bureau. Good luck.
