Standing in line at SIDA badging office at ORD.
Younger pilot a few people ahead has a white large sticker, ONLY sticker on the front of his flight bag.
White large Sticker, the kind you see on mirrored mudflaps on 18 wheeler trucks.
Is this the kind of message we want to send our passengers?
Would the company be jiggy with this sticker?
I am NOT the uniform police, but seemed in total bad taste.
If someone from management from my airline saw this, I think a carpet dance would follow.
Thoughts?

Lighten up, Francis.

Look, if its inappropriate let the passenger deal with it by writing a letter to the company or addressing the pilot directly. If they do write a letter let the Chief Pilot deal with it. If you try to do something about it you will get a bad reputation really fast.

If another pilot told me to take a decal off my bag I'd probably say F-you.

I personally find the female form to be very attractive, but every time I see those mudflaps of that woman in a sexually suggestive position, I think of what a woman would think of them. What if the situation was reversed, and it was a silhouette of some guy standing at attention with an erection? I think most guys would find it repulsive. I'm not the morality police, but let's act like gentlemen and just leave all the sexual innuendo away from work.

By the way, did anyone see the movie North Country?

I personally have a sticker on my flight bag with a penis in a circle and a diagonal line through it showing my hatred for the male gender......
JUST KIDDING. I think the mudflap sticker is a bit much and very immature to put on a flight bag. I mean, I would love to put a Megadeth sticker on my flight bag but I don't think it's appropriate for an airline pilot flight bag.

I did see the movie. Good flick.

Every time I think my fellow pilots are stupid, or adolescent, or whatever, I just remember the general state of ROT this industry has brought on.

I can't even imagine what sort of person would go to flight school dreaming of being an airline pilot these days.

There are a lot... I see them all the time! crazy, uh?

It makes all the the hillbillies and rednecks that fly these days more at home.

I think most passengers misunderstand $22 an hour. It is misleading. Try instead "at $385 a week" or how about "For less than 1/2 the wage of your accountant" or "For less than you pay your secretary".

On a deadhead outta ORF, I was talking to a very pretty 23yr old consultant from PHL. I gave her a brief explanation about delays, duty & flight time limitations as we were sitting on the taxiway and she could not believe that pilots & FAs only get paid when they are flying! Her response - "Wow, I didn't know that...that sucks!"

I am gonna patent that sticker, or encourage ALPA to distribute them em mass during the next round of contract negotiations. I'd also suggest one that says "At $22 an hour, did you really expect a good landing?"

Now that's the best bag sticker idea I've heard of for a while. I'd buy one! But I agree with the other post, $22/hour is something most wouldn't understand how it applies to this industry. Best to change it to a yearly figure.

someone should turn this into a bag sticker, but put the flightinfo.com logo on the truck.

Who cares! Grow up. Childishness is getting into other peoples' business.

YEAH!

It's also childish to have that cartoony "B757" sticker on a regional airline flightbag.

Now.....where can I get that mudflap-babe sticker for mine??

If you ask me I think all stickers should be banned from flight bags. I think its childish and very tacky. We need to start acting more mature.

This whole topic of stickers on a flight bag, reminds me of my neighbor. This guy cuts his grass every week. There is not a blade of grass that is out of place, me on the other hand I usually cut it once every other month. I hate to cut the grass. Sometimes I get nasty notes on my door, I know its from my neighbor who cuts his grass every week. The note tells says "I am a disgrace to the neighborhood" or " you are devaluing my house". I say "PHUQ OFF". Its my grass and I will cut when I want to. I payed good money for this house and I will do as I want to it.

And this neighbor has a bumper sticker that says " liquor in the front, poker in the rear". Now who is bringing down the neighborhood.

OMG!!
The only thing that's falling quicker than pilot pay in the industry is the maturity level.

What will really piss me off is if I'm traveling with my daughter and I have to answer her questions about your inappropriate stickers.

Most of these stickers are funny, especially illtake2's, I'm still chuckling on that one, just keep them out of view of the public and our kids.
Ask yourself, what statement are you trying to make and to whom and why!!

Why not use the money for ALPA-PAC or CAPA-PAC. You will get way more value out of your money and you'll be actually be protecting our profession instead of eroding it.

Sure giving to the PAC doesn't have that pop culture bubble gum feel like putting stickers in your school locker..... but hey, the corporate officers, bankruptcy counsel, congressmen and lobbiest don't deal in "stickers" either. They deal in money and votes and politics.

Get it?

BTW, if you give to the PAC you'll get a sticker....

Until you figure out how this profession works, you won't be a player.....just played....

This is the most pathetic and ignorant mantra of the pilot sheeple. Management loves this...why? Cause they don't have to do anything! They are not advocating you to be professional.

The problem is....the pilots themselves aren't advocating professionalism....

The race to the bottom....fueled by the sticker club and backpack society

[lame sticker links here]

Wow, what a segue. Very clever of you. Drift a thread from stickers and professionalism into a political statement. The "EFF BUSH" sticker is genius. I bet it took the designer months to think that one up.

I don't see any problem with this form of self expression, with exception. The flight bag is about the only part of the airline uniform that can be personalized. Immature folks will always post the gross, lewd and crude stickers on their bag. If that's how they want to come across to others, then okay. If the stickers are so controversial that they offend and are plain inappropriate, then confront them or call a CP if necessary.

Tailwinds...

The question is, which one will you choose to represent?

Try finding your personal flight bag in the crew room bag room amongst 200 other black flight bags, each with identical CREW tags.
