Just curious as to what airline's have these types of trips. I know that some regional airlines have them. I also believe that Airtran has them.

If anyone knows of low fare airline's and majors that have these, I would be interested in knowing about them. What is the total block of these lines? And how are the trips set up with respect to days-on / days-off?

i would imagine everyone has them in one form or another. even if you get your minimum/reduced rest of 8 hours (and that being not a true standup)....it still feels pretty short the next morning. seeing how you only slept 5-6 of it.

If I am to believe the pilot I spoke to two months ago, even big, bad American Airlines has continuous-duty overnights. Unless I misunderstood him. :)

ASA has 'em. I can do a few here or there, but four months in a row nearly drove me to tears several years ago. Some senior capts. live for 'em.

How about Red-Eye's?
Don't have those either (except the charters...which tend to go senior).

Aloha doesn't have stand-ups or red-eyes either.

And, no overnights at all if you fly interisland.

Eagle has them though. They are a major airline

No "stand ups" at Express Jet. One Houston-Ontario turn redeye flight. About 10% of my flight time is logged under the "night" column.

I love it when pilots brag about how perfect their place of work is. Of course they tend to leave out the little details, like having to fly 8 legs a day or only getting 1 day a week off the pager.

I wish I could read more posts of pilots bragging about their place of work. I read so many depressing posts that I wonder if there are any good jobs left out there.

ALG never had them in my time there (but I think they had them sometime prior to '99 perhaps?). I was told that it wasn't specifically prohibited by the contract, but it would have cost the company an arm and a leg.

I'll save everyone the trouble and say it myself... probably one of many reasons ALG isn't "technically" around anymore.

ASA CDOs

At ASA, most nap lines have 10 days off, with 3 consecutive naps followed by
2 days off in a continuous cycle. Since our contract stipulates 2 days off
following 3 naps, it is hard to trade trips for different days. The time on the
ground ranges from 5.5 to 8.5 hours on the 50 seat.

Get a GRIP dude! I have been here 20 months and I have NEVER flown an 8 leg day. Our reserve lines get 15 days a month off. You don't like us - fine - but at least have an opinion based on facts.

Frontier has em. Lake's has em. I'm talking out my arse here, but the Frontier FAs on the employee bus seem to dig the concept. At our company they usually go junior, but they work for some people, new mothers, etc.

I'm sorry, I missed the part where he specifically mentioned Southwest.

Funny you should say that. There was a time not long ago that a lot of JB pilots bragged about our QOL, and all the other good stuff. We mostly still feel that way but the bashers ran us off this forum. Yes, there is a good job out there!

C yaaa

AA has some all night flying. They do not have continuous duty overnights like the commuters. Some bid statuses have more all night flying than others. In 6 years at AA (mostly at DFW), I've flown one all night segment from LAX-GDL.

SkyWest has stand-ups. Many are not short overnights, and they typically go very senior. They pay well, and result in a lot of net "days off."

Next week I get to do 2 nap lines followed by a 4 day (that's 6 days straight for those of you in Rio Lindo). Got to love the relief line!
Maybe one day ASA will have proper scheduling:rolleyes:

ACA has them on the Delta side and used to have them on the UEX side. We are being told that IA will not have them. The Delta side stand-up's are built well. They range 11-14 off per month with 80-95 hours block. Most of the standups give 8+ hours on the ground. I been doing them for 2 yrs straight a love em. But that will change once the Delta flying ceases in Nov.

AirTran has them.

*No more than 3 in a row.
*3 calendar days off in between.
*12-16 days off/month typical, rarely 18-19.
*Regular lineholders may not pickup, or be assigned, a standup.
*If you fly standups, you can't pick up, or be assigned, regular trips that month.
*Must begin and end in domicile.
*Standups are on standup-only lines.
*2 legs max
*Fly aprox 40-60hrs/month and pays guarantee, 70hrs.
*5hrs minimum on the ground between legs, scheduled.
*Minimum 11hrs crew rest in domicile between standups.

I don't bid them, but some people (vampires) love them.
