Sports team flying

I hang out with a couple pilots that fly for the owner of a well known sports team. They don't have anything to do with the players. Great pay, schedule and equipment. One of the best corp gigs I've seen.

Where I am we only see the players during draft season because they're being wined, dined and signed. They're usually in a very good mood at this point so it's fun. Might see a payer when he gets hurt too, that's no fun. Other than that it's the owners and charter customers all the time.

I fly A-rod in his G-Stream, but I'm sure that wasn't what you were looking for. I think the Redskins own a couple of jets, and a huge Saab. I think the company name is American Jet based out of KCMH and they fly a DC-9 and a King Air 90 to reposition crew. I wish I could be more helpful, but lets be honest, I just want to fly a football team so they will hire me as the back up place kick holder. lol

Redskins definitely have a Global...I've seen the Celtics getting on a 757.

The owners and coaches might travel on a Global but pro football teams usually travel on somehting like a DC-10. They have a lot of equipment and those are pretty big boys too

Pistons fly on a BAC-111 out of PTK...their call sign is "Roundball 1". Don't the Red Wings fly the same plane?
The Charlotte/New Orleans/OakCity Hornets fly a 727 thats painted in turqoise and has the teams logo all over it.

You are correct...they now fly a dc-9-32. They switched from a Bac-111 to the 9 a few years ago. I saw pictures on airliners.net of the Redwings 111. Maybe Illitch baught the Pistons old 111 from Bill Davidson.

What kind of Gulfstream does A Rod have and does he put it on a 135? Or is it 91?

Does he use it during the season or does he fly on the Yankee charter?

He has a G-IIB and a Lear 31A, It's pretty shadey, I've only flown him and his family in the G-II but the company that manages his planes and a few others act like a really small fractional, but they do have a 135 ticket, but hardly ever use it.
