Seriously guys, how long will this take?
Will Key Bank give me a loan?
Can I get a medical with a DUI and will NASA hire me with a felony gun charge (my girlfriend called the cops one night when we were arguing about what to watch on tv and I honestly didn't know I had the gun in my waistband when the cops showed up at the door)
My attorney friend said the charge has been expunged anyway because I paid the fine.
Whadda all think?

yes you will be hired by nasa, I mean who cares that you don't hold some sort of PHd. I'm surprised thay havn't called you in to fill out the W2 yet????
Felony gun charge and a DUI wont hold you back. Dont worry about any of that, your a shoe in.

Assuming you're actually serious, the minimum qualifications are 1500 TT in jets; BS in engineering, science or math; test pilot experience highly preferred. No one has been selected who isn't active or ex-military (as Pilots; doesn't apply to Mission Specialists), with far in excess of the minimums.

NASA is hoping to retire the Shuttle fleet in 2010, so anyone selected now won't likely fly it as pilot (There are already many in line, some of whom have been waiting since 1998!). You would more likely wind up flying the Crew Exploration Vehicle, an Apollo-like spacecraft scheduled to succeed the Shuttle.

That's a blow to the nads

I was told that they wouldn't let me drive the moon rover becuase of my DUI.

Not as long as it takes to fill out the application. They'll call almost immediately. I couldn't go when they wanted to hire me. The interview was over a long weekend and there was this bitchen party to go to.

Most shuttle pilots have DUIs. You'll see when you meet them, crazy dudes.

Ha! That's the story they want you to believe!

The truth is somebody at NASA accidently put Endeavor on a treadmill that matches the speed of of the vehicle....

...well, you know the rest.

more likely youll end up flying a civilian space vehicle on contract for either scaled composites or vigin galactica.

NASA will hire anyone. I started initial shuttle training just after dropping out of HS and passing my private checkride. Training lasts about 3 days. You have to demonstrate that you can press the "launch" button. They also show you how to utilize your space suit and stuff. I don't remember much of it, we were always drinking. Oh, and I was a convicted felon at the time too. Numerous DWI's. In NASA's eyes, it wasn't relevant because a space shuttle just isn't a car. Go for it man, NASA's looking for some good folks to press the buttons.
