Last time I checked, Spirit was experiencing massive turmoil as they attempt to squeeze a (planned) 36 month fleet exchange into 18 months. They're over staffed on paper, but with thirty or so pilots off line every month in training, they're working the behinds off of the rest. Especially the remaining MD80 crews.

If you got hired there today, you might work hard for a year, but end up furloughed after the airbus transition is complete.

They are not hiring till at least 2007 or early '08. Many people there seem to think they are being polished up for sale.
