I heard all hiring is put on hold for the time being.

That's what I was wondering... when are they supposed to be done transitioning all the 80's to the busses? I figured there would not be any hiring til that is all complete. Are the expansion plans on hold?

I know ... I know...

Take it for what its worth..

RUMOR is Douggie Parker from USAirways/AWA is looking for airlines to buy.
Heard it from a friend of a friend...

MD last flight is mid Sept. Transition classes are still going on. A/C utilitization is increasing, thus the need for more bodies. Currentally calling appilcants for mid Oct. class.

What's the upgrade time right now? What bases are newhires getting?

There are not any new hires yet. If you get one of the two Oct. classes you will have a choice of the two, I think. To respond to others that have posted: Fact they are not suspending pilot or flight attendent classes. The temp. sususpention of hirighing is on the corp.side.

Thanks John Pennekamp,
For lettting me snorkel

You're one of a handful to "get it" about my name. Most just think I have a funky name.

Pennekamp is among the best diving in North America, and definitely most convenient.

I'll be glad when Spirit Airlines gets rid of all the MD-80s...More money for other Pliots and I'm tired of getting screws in my knees from loading bags in
those ragged bins....My final unload comes from fortlauderdale to Tampa Intl...A319s are much much nicer....They smell better on the inside too!!

J.P. I'm guessing you're in the MIA area, too. Just came back from a weekend in Largo. Anytime you're looking for a dive buddy down there, shoot me a PM. I'm moving my boat down there in November. I'm always looking for people to dive with down there...

Actually I'm in the Atlanta area, but thanks for the invite. Any new dive buddy is a good one.

how cute!

What's cute? What are you talking about? Anyways, I think we need to plan an airline dive trip to Pennekamp. Who's in?

Sounds good to me.

Just got back from a meeting in FLL. Five aircraft, all
A319, are being delivered the remainder of this year. Also, the company is really increasing the aircraft utilization which will mean a lot more flying. We are slated for 16 in October, a possibility of another 30 towards the end of this year.

14 aircraft, majority A319 and some a321, deferred till later 2007. Watching the market closely, however, if demand continues to soften then obviously so will growth.

Contract negotiations officially have begun.

Bases :DTW, FLL. DTW about 60% of pilots, FLL about 40% of pilots as we move forward

Caribbean and LA, SA is still the wave of the future. Lots of success there. However, DTW is still major part of the future as well.

Upgrades running about 5 years, however, should be decreasing once again with the growth.

In general, good place to work. MY paychecks are not rubber, the aircraft are great, we are growing and in general, feelings of cautious optimism...

Hope that helps.

MD

We have heard 16 this year, much more next ear however it is up in the air with the possible changing market...we were told up to 100 next year.

Are the trips usually out n backs or do you spend a few days on the road? I know the one time I flew in the back it was and out n back. Thanks, Leartwenty4

I know this isnt the FA forum, but you guys seem to know whats goin on. My GF is from DTW area and she wants to move back there. Currently working for a US Air commuter.
Any info on when they or if they will hire FA's any time this fall? I know they had an open house earlier this summer...

thanks guys

USA 3000 is having a DTW open house for FAs some time real soon, it on climbto350

Hmm, only been down there once: Long boat ride, shallow dives and not much to see. (Wrong place/spot perhaps?)

Best in my log-book: STX, North Shore.

As for my hometown airline: Spirit...Hope ya kick ass and stay in business.
