Just wanted to know what a common trip pairing was at spirit. IE 4,3,2,1 day trips and what bases have the best trips. Also, is it true that spirit is trying to turn to all out and backs? That was just posted on another thread.

Thanks,

The small bases like LGA seem to have day turns. The rest seem to have an even mix from 1-4. Be aware though that many of the day turns are standups. Ouch... It does work for many peaople because often it provides you with two work days and a good commute. Also you don't have to worry about retirement because you will crap out at 55 LOL... j/k. Some people do nothing else but those. I won't be one of them.

It is true that they are trying to have more and more bases with day truns. My problem with that is that those usually don't have a significant amount of trips. Apart of the fact that it is IMHO boring to fly in/out of the same city to those 5 destinations, the real problem comes when they decide to move the base. Marketing and market planning by default are very fluent terms especailly at a growing airline. Opening/closing is a common practice.

For the moment FLL seems to be a safe bet. underline: "for the moment". The rest? Who knows? Not even Spirit does.

I have seen a load of MCO overnights, so it would not suprise me if they would one day have an MCO base. I have not heard any rumors about it but it would be in line with what they did with ACY, LGA, and SJU.

Good luck!

"Aso, is it true that spirit is trying to turn to all out and backs?"

NK will do what it considers to be the absolute cheapest way of doing business. If out/backs prove to be the most cost effective, look for more in the future.

As far as bases go, not even FLL is a certain long term bet. NK has a long and distinguished history of opening and closing bases: (CLE, MYR, MLB, combined EWR/LGA etc. etc. etc). Yup, they re-opened LGA, but for how long is anybody's guess.

I know everyone seems to hate our new management, but at least our numbers have improved. I also find it interesting how little Spirit pilots use to make in the 1990s and early 2000s. One captain told me his first year as CAPTAIN he made less than 35K in the mid 90s. Another pilot told me he was making less than 85K as a captain a few years ago. Makes me wonder when guys talk about "how good it used to be."

Hopefully I'm just being a glass fuller kinda guy vs stupid! But I think its promissing to see the 2007 profit in the current state of the industry. Has the regime change made a difference?! I hope so!

[sarcasm]

It's a good thing that the financials don't include the profits paid to our owners, past and present, for the "other" business (SAS - Silver Spring Ltd, etc)they owned that profited from Spirit. Then we wouldn't be able to fool the employees into thinking that we lost money.[/sarcasm]

Do you really believe that Jake Schorr lost money?
