First year pay sucks. It doesn't matter if it is this year or 4 years from now. It still sucks. Keep flying your commuter if you don't want to deal with it. Five years from now look back and see how wise that decision was. Your choice.

The first two sentences of your post is quite possibly the most ignorant thing I've ever read on any message board.....

Congratulations.

"The problem is, every single "major" management team will be holding this up to their respective pilot unions saying "SEE?! THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TO COMPETE WITH!""

I guess I don't see it. Here's the pay comparisons.

Spirit Max pay $186
AA MD 80 Max $161
Cont $150
Delta $162
United $137
UsAir $142

How can you possibly justify comparing Spirit's pay rates four years from now to Other airlines pay rate as of today? Four years from now due to contractual bumps every year, the other airlines will have far greater numbers than they do now. Plus with new contracts, they are likely to have even greater than that. And what about the FO's who have been sold out at Spirit? Look at those rates and compare them to other airlines.

Spirit 5 Year FO on DOS $76
AA 737 $97 (Concessionary contract to avoid bankruptcy)
UAL A320 $82 (Not just a concessionary contract but a bankruptcy contract)
DAL A320 $98 (A contract greatly influenced by bankruptcy but improved
slightly for a smooth merger with NWA)
USA/AW A320 $79 (Bankruptcy Contract)
CAL 737 $90

So you see, even airlines that are operating on bankruptcy contracts are even higher than what Spirit, a very profitable company, will pay its guys on DOS.

Lets continue with some airlines that got new contracts recently, and they in and of themselves are quite pathetic contracts as compared to 10 years ago.

Alaska 5 year FO 737 $101
HAL 717 $93 (A much smaller aircraft than Spirits 319-321's)

Spirit pilot's, please vote this TA down not only for your selves but for everyone that has supported your fight and walked the line with you. I will be happy to donate a full 5% of my salary as opposed to that .02 ALPA assesses us.

It will get voted down, more are seeing the light! I have not flown with a yes vote yet and I am holding them to it!!

I always hear this but all these TA's always pass. In a year everyone will have the, "Don't Blame Me, I Voted NO," stickers, even though it passed by 65%.

Sad, but probably an accurate prediction.

Maybe we will remember at election time. Somewhere else in one of these strings, someone said that you can't blame ALPA National and/or Prater because the local negotiators and elected officials make the decisions. Agreed.
I want to know what's wrong with the ALPA democratic process that keeps giving us guys that bend over every time management threatens a shutdown/furlough. Why do reps assassinate other members characters just to get elected, positioning themselves as the strong advocates for pilots, then act like company lapdogs after they get elected.

Somewhere, there's a flaw in the process.

Odd statement, whether you agree with Blubbers or not, many do. First year pay is low because you are on probation. Right wrong or indifferent, that's the way it is and few would say paying more first year but accepting less for the rest of the contract would be a good idea.

Try making your point without an insult, sounds like you may be spending a little too much time watching Fox News.

The flaw lies within the fact that ALPA has no accountability or consequences for lousy representation. The boys in Herndon know their dues revenue is guaranteed regardless. Until ALPA starts taking a financial haircut, things will never change.
