How is the qol at Spirit? How do the different work groups interact ie gate agents with pilots/ flight attendants? The financials look great, ac deliveries, and growth potential.
 
Quality of life is OK. Quality of Work - not so OK.

QOL is ruled by our guarantee of four days off between blocks of work.

QOW is ruined by: our lack of work rules (hours of service) to protect circadian rhythm disruption, a twenty four hour per day operation that runs with no pad - such as delays that take all day from which to recover, a punitive employer/employee relationship, the "blame game" between stations and ops, and management's lack of respect for people.

We have other QOW issues as well, but they are best discussed over a beer if you happen to meet one of us at the RON hotel bar.

On the bright side, our training/checking environment is low stress and our low cost future appears to be about as bright as the brightest futures currently going. I'd rather be here at the moment than almost anywhere else because we are making lots of money. That is always good.
 
Enigma, Thanks for the insight. As for the qow, sounds like some of the same issues other airlines are dealing with. It is interesting that Spirit has figured out how to make money in the airline business which appears to have some real durability where other airlines are strugging to make a profit.
 
Most airlines today are not struggling to make a profit. Most of the industry is profitable, despite high fuel costs. Virgin and American are the only airlines that haven't reported a profit recently, and both of those airlines may have used accounting tricks to show what ever profit or loss they wanted, especially American.
 
Rephrase, Spirit is making alot of $$, has a high casm, rasm with 37 airplanes even with high oil prices.
