Spirit Pilots under attack

The "pilot wrote a letter story" came directly from an assistant POI with a last name sounding like "hit" "me". He made that statement to a check pilot meeting last week

Is it "hit me" or more like "lick me"?

This is the guy who told me:
“You will not need that pilot license issued in a hurry since you are getting furloughed anyways? Right?”
“Of course I don’t. I only need it to make a living. No rush. I will just mow the lawn meanwhile.”

I had another run in with him and the two made me realize what an ignorant person he is. I don't know the real story about that "hot brakes" incident. As far as I know it might have even been the appropriate course of action. However based on my personal experience with him I would rather not put my money on that.

Is there any legal avenue one can take if this happens? Can you even go to court over a disputed 709 ride or is that final? Anyone? I really hope the dust will settle by the time I will get my job back because the last thing I want is to have the FAA on my ride. So now I can not only worry about my job but also about my ticket.

I believe USA Today reported the Captain had 5 previous busted training events. That is why all the emphasis on looking at guys that have had previous diificulties in training. We are talking about the lives of millions of people every week at the mercy of airline pilots every week. This type of accident grabs alot of press coverage.

WOW!!! Five in such a short career, ouch!!! I hope this new Act being reviewed will allow companies to look into the COMPLETE past of a pilot. Both military and civilian should fall under this revised reg.

I can believe fallout like this may happen or has started to happen. Hey, it may cause an increase in hiring in feds to actually monitor all airlines with both eyes open. But the sim rides should be graded in a "real" world view or attitude. Meaning, if a pilot is doing a circle approach and goes below the MDA a few feet; realizes and announces the correction then that's real world.

The inspectors the feds hire should be or had a 121 background and not just a 91 background. There are feds running around out here with just a 91 background and to anal about what I mentioned above.

So what about the whole PRIA thing? I thought that was supposed to prevent these sorts of things.

Is this another failed government program? Say it ain't so!

Im glad they are observing these guys/gals with training records like that. So many people have slipped through the cracks in this career who should not be flying.

Every checkride failure requires a sign off in your log book. Every interview i have been on required me to bring my log books. The only reason a airline would not have your checkride failures is because they choose not to look at your log book. After flight school PRIA records take care of your training events which they have access to. This is a blame game. These companies knew what they were doing. It's company culture, some companies have great training departments and some don't. This is a company problem that they are blaming on the employee.

Every checkride failure requires a sign off in your log book.

Actually they don't...at shady 141 schools with examining authority, Airman in Norman, OK or Gulfstream you can take the check ride, which is just a stage check if you pass you are issued a certificate, if you fail it is shown as stage check failure (no pink slip required).
