LGA and ACY will be good for our pilot group. I imagine those bases will go senior since they are relatively small and we have pilots who commute to FLL from the Northeast.

To state the obvious, SJU will probably go junior.

Point being, All that Spirit management does is cut costs on the backs of their employees and send mass e mails that don't ever amount to anything.

I have a great way for Spirit to save money...get the numbers to the airplanes sooner that 30+ minutes thats like 60 gallons of gas every half hour for each engine running...$150+ per 30 minutes of wait time.

I say talk with your feet. I have been at spirit for 7 going on eight years and have never been so depressed about its prospect for long term existence. I would much rather take a corporate job that pays less and has a better long term stability 10 years of airline flying and it doesn't seem to get better it just gets worse. It is always the sky is falling we need to disrupt your life every two to three months with our BS games gets to be old. I hope some one buys us, we would all lose but this is getting to be a complete joke. 2 and 3 leg redeyes, crummy lines and constant change in procedures to suit those who never fly. When you have put up with this situation here for as long as many of us have it becomes very old. I do want pay but long ago I made the decision that my two children and wife are more important than another $20,000 in my paycheck. Not every one makes the same choices, would I do this job for less than what I am getting paid now,"Hell No", in fact we all should be paid at least 50% or more above what we already get paid without any work rules changes. Money Depreciates, Work Rules Never Depreciate unless you sell them and then it will cost you twice as much to get them back. And Pt 91 jobs are tough to find but not impossible.

Don't change your bid sheet yet, I am going to stay and watch the train wreck for a while, but I do grow very weary. This latest base no base will only cause more junior FO's to leave. I predict the next upgrade class will end with people who have 8000 numbers. Do not underestimate peoples dislike for living and commuting to SJU.

You're right. It looks like people are doing just that...quitting. How many times have you been displaced in your career? Spirit was #4 in 6yrs. Nuf is Enuf

The planned pickup time is 1 1/2 hours prior to departure. It is not not the drop off time.You can change your pickup time if you desire.

If we liked the old van service we should have been nicer to the driver.

That talk gets us nowhere Bighorn - why don't you call your Rep and ask him what's goin on. Or is everything going to miraculously change for the better in April? Things WILL get better but you need to give it time. The company can open and close bases at will. Not very smart in my book but I aint payin the bills.

Better yet, call Matt and ask him to send an e-mail covering the topic(s) that are bothering you and many others I presume.

What’s up with everyone needing hugs and kisses from the union? It reminds me of that guy who was upset that the union didn't congratulate the winners of the last election when the results were announced.

For all the tough talk we sure act like a bunch powder puffs. Are we all this emotionally insecure? Maybe the union should start putting gold stars in our v file when we do a good job.

I heard a story that a crew was recently unable to contact the former van service upon their late arrival at MCO. They called and called, and could only reach a voicemail. They eventually were forced to take a cab to the hotel, and pay for it out of pocket and put in for reimbursement. Not sure if this incident had anything to do with it.

I'll agree and disagree. Yes, forcing the company into a permanent base verses a satellite base is a win. However, in all likelihood these new "mini-bases" will probably be all out-and-backs. So, unless you're going to relocate there (SJU), commuting will be a bear and a crashpad/transportation/etc. will get expensive. As for LGA, it looks on paper to be a win for those guys that live in the NY area...but think about it. Unless you live in Brooklyn or Manhattan, would you want to drive to the airport and home everyday? Keep in mind there is no direct subway line to LGA--so if they choose that option, it's a bus transfer. Most of our guys up there live out of the city a bit.

The company is simply dumping the burden of cost onto the pilot group. The only way, IMO, to make it a true "win" would be to have 2-3 day trips originate out of these cities (maybe even 4-5 day trips out of SJU...it could be a commutable place then). That would defeat the goal the company has set out for, though.

I'll agree with your last point, Beetle. For those of us that don't like what's happening, there are other places that are accepting applications. I, for one, will not stick around once the cons outweigh the pros for me. BUT WHERE THAT LINE IS DIFFERS BETWEEN EVERY PERSON. Please don't commence to tell me throughout a 4 day trip how bad this place is and how great it used to be. Call in sick to work on your resume.
