Gentlemen, someone with more info than myself posted some numbers on our unofficial Spirit pilot bbs. According to what was heard in recurrent, Spirit will hire around 80 more this year. Rumor is that we will receive the four A320's late this fall. (I'll still not believe it until I see one at a jetway, but it sounds good.!!!)

Good Luck to all.

enigma,

I jumped on some A320's pre-9-11 and I thought the cockpit was very roomy and the plane was very nice. I know you like your MD-80, but that A320 really seems nice. I have a friend at United that was on the 737 and didn't want to go to the A320, but once he did he was hooked. He says he never wants to leave it.....

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

It's nice to be at the start of a new hiring wave. I got the call for an April05 class. I enjoy the MD80 as well but look at that SWEEEET bus, I think I can handle that. As far as the side-stick, I've been playing with my stick for years so the transition can't be too difficult....

General, no doubt that the bus is a nice bird. I just have a hard time relying on electrons. I prefer cables. Once I become convinced that the bus isn't going to let me down, I'll be glad we got it. Ultimately, I'll do what an old corporate boss once told me, "This new 60 has a lot of capability, let's not waste it........................ embrace the technology".

Passengers and FA's seem to really like the Bus because the cabin is wide, quiet and comfortable. Management likes it because the lower up front costs make them look real smart. After adjusting to it, the pilots seem to like it a lot, too. Just don't ask maintenance what they think of it...........
