You heard it hear first.

The Boeing 737 will not be a commercially viable aircraft at some point in the future.

Don't say I didn't warn you!

I love it when say this! But hey don't bother to look at the Skywest balance sheet before you make such a statement.

Easy to turn a profit on "fee for departure" or "cost plus"!!! There is no "at risk" flying on the CRJ's at Skywest. Try some "at risk" flying and then tell me what the balance sheet looks like...

Actually, I heard that SKYW was going to buy Southwest because the RJs don't make any money.

Ok well, that is true, you can make money on flying RJs....Now try paying a RJ captain 175ish per credit and and FO 108 per credit and see how that pans out. I rest my case.

Last stupid SW/SKYW rumor I heard was that a partnership was axed over Uncle Jerry not wanting to use the aircraft Southwest wanted SkyWest to fly. And even that one was ridiculous.

That's not ridiculous. Southwest wanted Skywest to fly the E170 and maybe the E190 and Jerry said no. He didn't want another aircraft type. Also there was disagreement over fuel. This is a true.

As far as Southwest buying Skywest....that's FUBAR!

Southwest is coming into ATL via the Trojan horse. They will buy ASA from Skywest. Skywest sees the writing on the wall with the upcoming mergers and reduced connection carriers and are looking to cash out. Southwest will dissolve ASA and use the gates to destroy Airtran. Airtran will go the way of Frontier in Denver. Delta will go the way of Pan Am. Southwest becomes Walmart.

P.S. This speculation is for entertainment purposes. Don't get your panties in a wad.

What proof (not rumor or innuendo) was there of this really ever happening?

Just want to say that this rumor is justifiied by a guy that knows a guy that says this was told to him by a guy that knows some shi%. Or.. it's crap, I have no idea. Just puttin a feeler out there.

Hm...

While a little tough to swallow (I don't think they need 737 airframes since they're deferring some growth), the second to the last paragraph is interesting.

I was driving back from Vegas last night and I passed a car in which someone was on the cell phone. I was able to lipread part of the conversation and it appears that they were talking about this rumor and I can confirm that it is indeed true.
