SWAPA members voted 80 percent to 20 percent to immediately proceed with Section 6 contract negotiations in the referendum vote that closed at noon today. Turnout of the membership was high, with 70.8 percent of the 4,984 eligible pilots casting a vote.

Negotiating Committee Chairman said the committee will send the 30-day notice to the Company of the Association's intent to enter contract talks.

Looks like we will be starting a section six with a few months. I am suprised that 20% actually voted to extend this contract.

I'm surprized (happily) that as many voted as did.

As am I. After all, with the abuse you take from management, coupled with notoriously low pay, it's a wonder you have anyone willing to work under such conditions in the first place.

Are you trying to be sarcastic or funny? What is your point bluedude? Life is good here, but that doesn't mean we should keep extending the contract and adding side letters... I think most of us are hoping for fast, amicable negotiations resulting in a mutually benefital contract.

Blue dude must think that everybody should work for jB-type wages.

What are you guys trying to do, RAISE the bar or something? The nerve.

That is why I asked if he was being sarcastic - it is hard to tell on the internet. Not trying to be confrontationsl, I just don't understand his point.

I think blue dude is reiterating what everyone on this board always has to say about the lcc's.. I hope your contract is AWESOME for every one of you..

We are all out here working our butts off and the example that swest sets for pay and work rules really help set a goal for other lcc's to follow
