I saw the story last nite on local t.v.

Quick question: when has there been 'bad' stories in the news about SWA? I don't follow your logic.

I meant it more towards the industry in general. I never see too many stories about a good side of air travel, Southwest included.

I'll have to disagree with you on that one. The way I see it the 'industry' has shot itself in the foot and Southwest is laughing all the way to the bank. Lets face it. Bad news for the industry=good news for SWA. Even that local CBS news story alluded to this.

Unscientific research on my part: 99% of everything I read in the Chicago press about SWA is positive: employees happy, 30 some years of profits, happy employees, happy customers. Even after becoming the white knight for ATA 's bk and then asking employees for an additional pay cuts to make the deal sweater there ain't no negative press. It's absolutely amazing. Teflon even. The new $99 dollar fares out of Midway to the new west coast cities are great! thanks SWA!

On this message board, the only 'real' bad news I hear about SWA is when the exponential hiring growth takes a breather. Please, prove me wrong. Nothing personal canyonblue, but how about posting some positive news for the rest of the industry like you 'intended' that actually features someone other than SWA? Yeh, I know, it's not easy to find. It's not all doom and gloom, just harder to find.

You are right, the 'rest' of the industry is in need of positive news; however, this 'need' is based on a bad case of wishful thinking.

Good luck to us all.

Being a commuter I never see any "nice" stories about Southwest, or any other airline for that matter. I live near the Hub of a Legacy carrier and they get slammed in the press anytime you see their name. Just thought it was that way all around. So for me to see this positive post was worth posting to me, but for those that live in Chicago it just might be "news" as usual. I guess that is at least some good news on Southwests part, but I have heard that Delta can do no wrong in the Atlanta paper.

Canyonblue-
ah, I see where you are coming from. [gomer pyle] well gawww leee [gomer pyle]

Yeh, I was a commuter to Atlanta (from Chicago) in the early 90's and yes, I know the 'reputation' your company has down there. I remember when you guys went big time in Birmingham and the flood gates of people driving from Atlanta was big news....and there weren't many kind words in the press.

As far as your reputation around here in Chicago, it's very positive. Yeh, you have to take what you hear from others with a grain of salt. Before you guys were the underdogs, now everybody is in a race to be like you. It's all good in the press and 'news' but as far as from other crewmembers, well, some people can't see beyond their own noses.

Just so you can sleep better tonite, everytime I call 800Iflyswa to either book a flight or to get info on an arriving friend or relative, it's always: "hi, you guys are the greatest!"....and I don't even work for you. you guys sure make it look easy.

respectfully,
tranceport

Thanks for the kind words.
