Southwest jumpseat ?

Here's one I haven't been able to find a good answer on.........

Do you folks allow CASS jumpseaters on charters?

If no, what if it is my dad's company that charters the A/C? He's running the show as far as the charter group goes, but is not high enough to get me a seat for free......

So, would I be able to sit in the cockpit???

I need to find out for sure, as I'm not going to the airport at 0 dark hundred if there's "a chance".

Southwest does not allow any non-revs on charter flights. No jumpseating, even company pilots. Sorry.

Sorry, but that is not true. I jumpseated last year on a SWA military charter. I called the charter scheduling folks and asked the question. They said as long as the Captain approved it and I was able to get on the military base and to the aircraft that it was okay to j/s in the cockpit. The cabin is "owned" by the chartering group, but the fightdeck belongs to SWA (the Captain).

PS. It was an early AM flight, so I brought donuts. I had no problems getting on the flight. Your mileage may vary.

I am not so sure about the military charters. SWA would need to contact DET 4/5 to get approval since the military is paying the bill. I have even seen where the airline could not DH it's own crews.

...Forgive my ignorance, but I'm a SW Dispatcher... I take j/s calls all the time, and have released numerous charters, but what is DET 4/5 ?

DET 4/5 are the Air Force folks (east coast/west coast) who monitor air carrier compliance with military charters.
