Hello Guys.....

This month in the onboard "Spirit" magazine there are some real good articles about Southwest Airlines. Celebrating our 35 year in operation on June 18...The article gives you an insight as to how it all started and the mindset of the Company. I think it a must read for the potential future employee of Southwest Airlines. It will help you get your game face on and fire you up.... Some people might need to get fired up heading into the interview.

After all, its going to take extra time trying to fly into Dallas on SWA, thanks to the Wirght Amendment...use your time wisely.

One Highlight of the article: 800 Airplanes in our future.

Good Luck to all the interviewees..... Show your "warrior spirit"

Gotta read that article. Was talking to a good bro the other day who knows alot about the airline business and a huge SWA fan. He's worried that we're growing too fast and moving slowly away from our niche' that got us here. As a newbie waiting to start class, I was all ears. What do you guys think about the rapid growth, any validity in your opinion to his comments?

Actually the growth is averaging about 8-9% over the next 4-5 years, about what we have done in the past. Continued growth at or in excess of any CASM increases is necesssary to keep profits flowing. SWA has always left money on the table when it comes to opportunities for growth because that usually means that while the short term may return a profit, unplanned for growth can cause losses in the long term if the economy turns south & the rapid increases result in higher expenses & lower revenues (due to economic downturns). SWA has been able to control it's costs by having steady, predictable growth by managing the risks of uncertainities in the future, fuel hedges being one of those examples, there are many others.

Welcome to SWA & hope you get on the property soon!

Not sure if Southwest posts that on Southwest.com?
