For the SWA wannabes from an assist. chief within the SWA system:

First classes in mid Jan. Two a month. Hiring 400 in '04. Subject to change. Always on the look out for more airplanes. Nobody will hear of such an off the books purchase until it happens--got burned back with Nashville.

Interviewing will resume about the same time, the poolies should take the hiring out until april or so. Interview board captains are being interviewed right now. The entire application process will be online. All people with applications on file will have to reapply, that's right reapply. The 737 type is gone to apply, still applies to getting hired. 737 typed applicants will be at the head of the virtual stack.

Scope,

Did this assistant chief say when can we start the online application process?

Gumby

If we have to re-apply how can our "original place in line" be considered? Unless someone is going to compare the current applicants to the new applicants and see which ones match up. That doesn't sound very efficient. A type rating date would be a way I guess to see who is in the current stack. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Chaz

Thats if they are willing not to verify your original date of application with the current stack.

SWA is big on integrity. I would imagine they will give you the benefit of the doubt. It would not be worth it to not tell the truth about original application date.

Blow your chances of getting hired over being dishonest about application date?

All, please don't shoot the messenger. I am just relaying what I have been told. The new application process will mean just that. Brand new. From what I am able to piece together from several different sources, it will be a points type system. Points for the type rating, points for xxxx amount of hours, xxxx PIC turbine, etc. I have no dog in this hunt as I am not interested in applying for SWA. My goals lie elsewhere. This is just some information from a very credible source, and as someone else typed, subject to change.

How about this...

Nov or Dec, Southwest may send out update application letters to pilots with apps on file. Each pilot will have some type of # either SS # or whatever allowing them to enter the web site to fill their app.

In Jan, the web site is open to everyone else.

Saves the people dept some keystrokes and they get to workout app problems that may arise.

Just a hunch...;)

STB,

If that were the case, your suggestion would work quite well. For two reasons, We would all have the lowest application numbers if we had a window that only prior applicants could submit their applications. Two, it would give the PD a chance to eliminate anyone in that stack that has moved on to another opportunity because they simply would not fill out the new online application when the "early" application window was open.

Of course we are wasting letters on a web page with speculation on something we have absolutely no control over.

My thoughts,

Chaz

I think those letters are pretty cheap so don't try to save 'em:D

On the line the rumors seem to come more from flight info than DAL these days.

If we only knew just how many people in Dallas read this stuff..

But..It is kinda neat when a check airman quotes this board as a source..

We must be doing something right..

Some early app window info...

again line pilot info.....

As of last week.
If your app is in now, you will get some credit towards your "point" system for an interview.
Obviously the "looks, personality and talent" of this beauty contest is 737 Type, PIC turbine, Total Time and currency.

Again this was said last week. Things change

um, yes, it is rumored that those with non-drooling, decent looking dogs in their avatar do get one tenth of a quarter of a point, if the P.D. is feeling generous...

you, sir, on the other hand...

(do you feel that? it's your chain being yanked :) )
