"The call"
On Tuesday, I talked with Kim in the PD on where I sit in the pool. I asked her if the DB board was today (Tues) and she confirmed it. She also said she had the two piles, call or letter, on her desk. I wanted sooooo much to ask her about a couple buddies, but, I didn't. She said the calls would start Monday. The letters, however, I understand, probably went out yesterday. I believe the first letters start arriving in the evil post box on Friday or so. Don't check your mail!!!! That way you'll never get that letter. I got my call on Tuesday, one week after the June DB. I actually got an e-mail the night before requesting more info on my background investigation on Monday, so I was pretty pumped figuring that they wouldn't ask if they didn't want to hire me. I got "the call" on Tuesday from Kim. The hire rate on the June DB was slightly higher than 50%. Don't know what this one was. Cheers, good luck to all those waiting and my advice to you, tell the postman you are out of town and don't want any mail delivered!

The wait
Yes, the wait is painful. I felt like I was opening my mailbox might have a bomb enclosed, kind of like in the movies. Open it, slooowwwly look in (heart rate increasing!), pull the mail out and tenatively go through each piece, no SWA letterhead, WHEW!!! When I got home on Monday, no mail, yeah, then, got the e-mail requesting more info, MAN!!! was I excited. Still until I got "the call" from Kim, I still had the slightest doubt. "Of course, it's all contingent on the pee test and background investigation." Hell, give me a cup, I'm ready to go right now!!! Anyway, I share your pain brutha! In the pool
I was told I'm #30, second class once they start up again. Kim said that it's probably Nov time frame. I figure 8 Nov or so. I don't know though, all speculation. I interviewed on 12 May so I guess it depend on when you interviewed as to when you are in class. Glad to be swimmin' with ya Fem,

Got the Call!!!!
I just got the call as well 1450 CST. I actually got a call at 0930 this morning from a company doing their background checks - they said I had a break in my residence record and I cleared it up for them. Thought, Hmmmm - probably wouldn't have done that if I was in the bad pile of interviews - but I wasn't going to start getting really excited until I actually heard. My last name starts with an S - so I would guess it is not an alphabetical thing. I also interviewed on the 23rd of June so not sure where I would fall. Heres the rest of my dates:
Typed: 14 Feb 04
Applied: 11 Jan 04
Call for Interview: 25 May 04
Interviewed: 23 Jun 04
Call to continue: 26 Jul 04
Lindsey said to expect class in the December timeframe.
Good luck to all - I certainly hope you hear soon!! I gotta find some way to peel myself off of the ceiling!!

Drug test July 27
If you don't have a letter stay close to the phone. I know it's difficult if you have not got a call yet, but keep this in mind. Kim called me at 1100, she had to call me back to make arrangments for my drug test close to my home which occured at about 1500, in other words, if she and others are having to do this for other pilots that all takes time.
So stay by the phone, feel the heat... and stay cool!

To those of you who are awaiting an interview,
I know this subject has been beat to death, but to throw my two cents in:
I wanted to do whatever I could be successful in this process and to appear relaxed and confident in the interview. So I prepared, I read everything I could and then I decided to work with someone. I sought help from www.EmeraldCoastInterviewConsulting.com
I think the prep I did was extremely helpful, not that Albie gives you the answers, that's not what he's does and that's not what you want. He and his wife help you become more confident with your interviewing skills. It's an education. (especially if you've been out of the game for a while)
It was worth every penny. Thanks Albie and wife.
I have been blessed today to receive a call from a woman with an angelic voice saying something about "continuing the process". I truly am fortunate.
