The Southwest Airlines job appication is discriminating against Piper turbo prop pilots. If you have flown or are flying any of the Cheyenne series your time in this airplanes falls into the dreaded "other" column on the application. The Cheyenne is a PA-31T-1 or 2 depending on the model. You can show your time in a PA-31 on the application but that is a Navajo and piston engines. Not the same animal .All the Cessna turbo props are on the list, and all the Beech turbo props are there too.If your flying the Piper turbo props welcome to the world "other" aircraft. Are we being for our time in "other" aircraft?

I suggest you call the People department and explain your dilemna to them. If it's an oversight, they'll fix it.

Cheers

Does it really matter? One of the aircraft I have flown is not on the list and I had to use "other". Does SWA look down at time listed as "other"?

Of course SWA does not recognize the Cheyenne, it sucks:)

(Just razzing you!)

Maybe you can get the same lawyer those "People of Size" got and sue the hell out of them.

No worries

There are some current military aircraft out there including turboprops that are not on SWA's list, including my most recent and current aircraft, which I listed as "other". Don't sweat it. Just my observation, but I believe they are looking at the applications very carefully.

Good luck!

If you have the hours and can prove it, don't worry. They can't list every aircraft in the world. If you want to call the PD, go ahead and ask them about it nicely. If they get enough calls about a particular aircraft, they will consider adding it to their list.

I don't remember the specifics about the "other" heading...but doesn't it give you a place to specify what that "other" aircraft was? I didn't even pay attention to that - all the aircraft I broke time down in were listed(corp jets and airline equipment mostly).

It would matter a great deal if he needs that Cheyenne time to make the 1000 hr. turbine PIC requirement and the software can't distinguish it from Navajo time.

A huge chunk of my time (and frankly some of my most important time) was in an aircraft listed as "other". Chill out dude - you need 1000 hours turbine PIC - some guys get it in an F16 and some lucky guys (like you) got to fly a real airplane.

Wait til you get to class and they give you seniority by your age....then you can talk about discrimination!
