I've got a better shot to fly the shuttle's last flight.

It wouldn't pay as well as being a Southwest pilot.

Wait, so you still have to pay for your training, AND you will be at the bottom of a list mixed with SWA pilots who want to fly until age 72, and the YOUNG Airtran pilot group? Can you say ssstagnation? That and you're out something like $9000 bucks right off the bat? Crazy.

I know an AirTran FO who's applying. Seriously!

in our current class swa also has a former air tran capt.

yeah, dem boy's are trustin' alpa to come through for 'em.

All on the bottom. As for spending money on type oys it is well worth it compared to staying at regional pay and Most others with the exception of fedex and ups.

This is only one message board. There will be hundreds of posts on numerous threads about SWA hiring on each one. FI, ***************, apc, etc. All vying for about 100 or so positions. Can't believe the impossibility obtaining GOOD jobs has become.

The 737 type is a requirement for the job. Just like 1000 Turbine PIC or your ATP. Its a rating thats required. There is no training agreement. You could walk away on your first day on line.... but would you really???

This is just the beginning of some serious hiring at SWA. Rumors of over 2000+ pilots post Airtran Purchase. Unless Oil goes to $200 a barrel..... Then we will all be lookin for work.
