CAL had a huge operation in DEN in the 80's and early 90's. Now, not as busy with their hangar rented by another customer. Today, a very small presence in DEN today.

Are there any gates in ATL for SWA if they didn't buy Air tran?
If the DAL/NWA merger goes through, there would be 3 gates that would come available that I'm sure SWA would be interested in. However, they would also be coveted by Airtran, so we'll just see what happens.

Because "that" airline has a smokin' good deal on new -700's from Boeing to replace the 717s.

Gup

In addition, said airline has a very large presence at the world's busiest airport with numerous gates and established domestic routes to allow WN to take on the new DAL. Not to mention they have valuable slots in LGA, and EWR. That airline is also #2 and expanding BWI with profitable routes. SWA would own BWI outright and be a serious thorn in Delta's side overnight. The airline in question is also around 50% hedged for the next couple years. I still think it's a long shot for them to buy anyone...we'll see!
