I was reading another thread about the demise of general aviation.
The man was spot on. In addition to his facts I believe that there seems to be a bit of an FSDO sanctioned DPE "mafia" out there, at least in southern arizona. There are five DPE's that have an oligopoly on instructor practicals charging $1,000 for a CFI practical! No wonder the
GA pipe line for airline pilots is drying up.

I hear the FAA might be looking into the FSDO now. Seems someone got
a local congressman involved.
