Now, THIS is a discussion!
What we have is a bunch of developing hitters.
Hopefully.
We did see some tremendous improvement in a few player's hitting during the last third of last season, and are hoping for that development to continue. Steven Drew and Mark Reynolds are starting to get comfortable and a little more patient at the plate so their productivity is starting to increase.
Chad Tracy will be back to hopefully add to the run totals and Connor Jackson continues to improve his BA.
We will lose Tony Clark, but his value is becoming more and more marginal with the developing young players.
Eric Byrnes hasn't done a damn thing (but it's certainly not for lack of effort...he just hasn't produced at the plate) since he signed a 3y, $30M contract, but he probably earns the team at least that much $$ in women's t-shirt sales....the chicks love him.
The real story of this team is their infield defense...it's just amazing. Reynolds has a powerful arm at 3B, Stephen Drew is gonna be better than his brother, we've got a multi-time gold glove winner in Orlando Hudson at 2B and two decent guys sharing duties at first...either one of whom can make a great pinch hitter when needed.
If everyone remains healthy, the Diamondbacks are certain to win the division and have as good a chance as any to take the pennant.
The guy that put this team together is in his 30s. He's learned from his time with the Red Sox and he's made everyone in this state very happy with his shrewd moves this off-season. The team is STILL paying deferred salaries to the stars of the '01 World Series and have a tight budget.....but he made it work and my hat's off to the guy.
Hey, Craig Counsell is a family friend!!
What are the rest of us like? last I checked I was just a human. Never have flown the ERJ, does this make you a special human? You sound like one of those guys that keeps the hat on while eating and wears the aviatior glasses at night. It was a lame joke, you came on here not apologize but to act like you were awesome becuase you said "blow us". Your FO wasn't laughing at the joke he was laughing at you in his head he was saying "hahaha you homo hahahaha dork hahahaha special human".Are you to say that every joke you have ever told has been completely original.
So let me get this straight. IF YOU HAD A FRIEND, and you were going to tell them a joke, you would have just made it up? You must either be really funny or a F&*^ing Dill Hole.
I'll bet your not funny though.
I'll also bet that your post had more spelling errors than mine.
fine JOG? WTF is that you big giant tool box piece of worm sh!t!
Go Fly your MS flight sim and stop pretending to be like the rest of us!
I hate it when captains refer to everything as I and ME. Unless, of course, at XJT you have to do your own pushbacks and radio calls. I thought you were single pilot there for a while even though your radio comment was relatively funny.I was in LGB on the 14th in the morning. I (XJT) had just started pushing back about 2 min before you.
When you contacted ground for pushback, you said that you would push accordingly so that you would not "BLOW ExpressJet".
I (like a smartazz) just said over the radio, "Just tell Alligiant to go ahead and blow us."
I am sorry. It was no the mark of a classy aviator. If I could take it back i would. I meant it in humor, but I dont think that it came out that way.
In the right time, and situation, it would have been funny.
I promise that the next Alligiant guy I see in a bar on an overnight, I'll buy the beers.
