Why do I think that makes more sense than Parker's Delta pipe dream. I know several years ago when I was jumpseating thru ATL on a regular basis our station people mentioned that Parker was passing through quite a bit and the rumor at the time was AirTran. Seems Parker has a rather strong interest in an ATL hub. I think this would have made more sense if done properly (ie. NO hostile takeover) than trying to drag the poor folks at Delta kicking and screaming into the fry against their will. But; then again, what do I know? I only work here...

Who says that AirTran reaction would not be the same or worse? I think this would be a terrible deal for Airtran pilots.

What ever floats your boat, Admiral. I'm sure the MidEx guys are saying the same about your offer, too.

I think UsAirwest should let things cool for awhile and see how they can handle their first merger before adding everyone else to the misfit system.

Show me one negative post by a Midwest pilot on this board about the proposed AirTran merger. There has not been a whole lot said by the Midwest pilot group.

Agreed. But unfortunatly "Boy Wonder" (ie Parker) doesn't see it that way.I'm
beginning to wonder if he doesn't suffer from some form of Attention Deficit Disorder:rolleyes:

Airtran - growing, Midwest - barely growing if not stagnant

Airtran upgrade - about 3 years, Midwest considerably longer

Neither airline has folks on the street.

Seems like it could be a pretty good deal for Midwest pilots to suddenly find themselves in an ariline which will continue to grow over the next 5 years.

Thanks for the promotion. Will I see it in my next retirement check?

Exactly.

The only Midwest folks who wouldn't like it are the super-senior guys that would no longer be top dog, or the guys that really, really like being their own small airline (big fish, small pond syndrome), or the super-junior guys who might end up at the bottom of the list at Airtran and even THOSE guys would be in a better position than they are now unless Midwest started buying airplanes (11 days left in this year, didn't they say something about an anouncement by then?)

I'm hearing more grumbling from the junior Airtran pilots than anyone else. A few people seem to be happy about it because it's financially positive for the company as a whole, but most of us realize that if the integration is anything other than a staple for the Midwest guys (which wouldn't be fair and I doubt we'd see anyway), we WILL end up getting the shaft regarding upgrade.

I wouldn't be interested in being a UAir acquisition, either. The only airlines that I wouldn't mind being at the bottom of in an acquisition would be SWA or CAL (in that order), simply because the pay scales are livable as an F/O with a family for 5, 7, or even 10 years and there's less chance of a furlough at airlines that are actively hiring.

Just my .02 cents, but thanks for the deviation into "fantasy land". :)
