That is correct in the fact that the RJ's can be any size (70 seats or less), but UAL is also limited by a restriction that "express" block hours cannot exceed mainline block hours. (FWIW, there is currently a grievance at the system board level that alleges that UA has already exceeded the limit.)under the current United contract what is the max number of 66 seat aircraft? My understanding is that it is unlimited?
Thus, in the event that UA wants to increase capacity there is no restriction on replacing 50 seat RJ's with 70 seat RJ's. It's all based on block hours and not aircraft size.
ELIMINATING 70 SEAT SCOPE RELEIF IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE IN THE NEW COMBINED CONTRACT.
