So I was down in Daytona recently...

I took a trip to the Daytona Beach area earlier this week to check out Epic Aviation and Thursday morning, I was driving past DAB, by the Riddle dorms, when I looked up and saw, just in the spanse of my windshield, 4 training aircraft putzing around the sky. I cannot say if they were all Riddle brats or not, but this got me thinking. Epic Aviation has 2 offices, one in New Smyrna Beach (EVB) and the other at DAB. Would I be better off to train at EVB due to the high number of students flying around DAB? Is the difference in the amount of traffic really something that should determine where I train? I'm not afriad of DAB and it's busier airspace, but when 95% of that air traffic is students I get kind of nervous.

That is true, I'll give you that. But EVB seemed pretty laid-back and much slower than DAB when I was there. I thought it was pretty tame.

My thoughts would be almost all of those students are flying with there instructors .Besides that ,the control tower has them under its eye so I dont think this is any issue. crowded skies everywhere day by day more and more until the end. but yea to be waiting in line or to be spending time and cash at a waiting point or holdings, or doing360's that would suck.

New smyrna is 9 miles south of daytona... half of the aircraft go south as well as north... plus there is now a control tower so in my opinion is messed things up... wether you fly in dab or evb it is still the same congested airspace filled with riddle, epic, and vairous other schools aircraft flying around... there is more stuff to do in daytona tho...

i don't think it matters. i would recommend looking at other schools if your in the area since there are so many.
