Just got this email from Delta... Great for me as my wifes passes are worthless anymore... I really like the Atlanta to Savannah fare 49 bucks... I cant mow my grass for less than 49 bucks in fuel... makes you wonder.....

Hey, but relax- it was paid for by the pilots and their new CBA in order to facilitate the merger and offset record oil prices. Sure is a good thing Delta pilots didn't go for the money they gave the company during BK. Whew, those crazy American, United, and Continental pilots........
 
Didn't the dumb-ass, DAL fcuk-wad management team do the same shti about two years ago with some crap called simplifares or simple fares? These asswipes will go to any length to make a crappy merger look good. I hope the NWA and DAL aren't suprised when the furloughs and base closeures start. These moroinc suits should be drawn and quartered with a hot poker shoved up their ass........

looks like alot of Airtran cities...but DL has tried before, how much money are they losing on each of these routes. Airtran flies over ATL all day long.

Alot of those cities on 50 seater at 85.00=4250.00 and that if it is full, and they are not. DL pays ASA like 2800 per hour for a 50 seater and fuel of 1817 for the flight delta pays for=LOST MONEY and that being a full flight...

DL REAL SMART MGT group again. Operation clockwork, simplefares, etc...
 
Been hearing from our management at Airtran (at townhall meeting and quote in USA Today article) that the public in general is balking at the higher end prices. That is why Airtran and Delta are throwing out these prices to get these seats filled. Better to get something than to go empty.

Or maybe just trying to put some pressure on the weaker airlines (ie. United, Frontier, Midwest) to drop more capacity (or shut down) over the next year.

Not surprising. The idiots in the fancy offices at Fort Widget try this strategy every few months: throw out some ridiculously low fares on AirTran routes that DAL serves with cramped up RJs and hope that they hurt us. Sorry boys, but you can't compete with 737s and 717s that have XM radio and business class seating with your replacement jets. We can match the price and still survive because our CASM is much smaller than yours on the same stage-lengths. Idiotic strategy, but they keep trying it over and over again.

If they're saying it publicly and not just in internal townhall meetings, then it's probably reliable. Companies are very careful about lying to shareholders nowadays.
 
Gee- imagine that. The airlines might actually have to cut back on capacity to the point that the airplane is no longer a grey hound bus with wings which caters to ever trailer dwelling, undershirt wearing, barefoot slob in america without the cash to drive. Perhaps the airlines will, one day, become more appealing to the business customer, which has always paid the bills at an airline. Tough $hi+....if the airfare goes up to a point that fewer people fly, and fewer pilots are needed, then so be it. I'm guessing there won't be enough pilots even if this occours in another 8 years anyways.
