YIKES! I heard a guy ditching about 200 miles from Shannon a few months back, he was in some single engine plane doing a crossing... Scary Stuff....

Well, this one was only across the country ... though I wouldn't mind doing one across the pond if the opportunity came along. I've got some friends who've done crossings in King Airs ... at least the pucker factor's a lot lower there!

If you drop into Sonderstrom, which is popular on the ferry routes, take a look at all the extra fuel tanks they pack into the light twins. It looks to me like if you lose an engine in the first 3-4 hours of flight it doesn't matter if you're in a twin or a single - you're still going to get to test your anti-exposure suit.
