Small plane crash investigation on A&E

Investigative Reports will be airing on A&E tonight at 9:00PM Central Time. The topic will focus on the frequency of small plane crashes and what is being done to help prevent them.

Sounds like it should be pretty interesting. I know i'm going to check it out!

After only 2 minutes, I can tell that this is complete garbage. Too bad, cause I thought their special on airline security with Duane Wuerth that just ended was right on. Oh well, what do you expect?

You may want to spend the time doing something else, Flint. At the moment, it appears that this show is nothing more than a piece showing a bunch of crashes and getting 'horrifying' accounts from victims and their families. So far, I have seen nothing redeeming coming from the show.

As I'm typing this they said that JFK Jr. was flying a Cessna. I guess they all are to most people.

OK, so maybe this isn't the best television program on right now. But for some reason I still find it interesting... maybe it's just b/c there are airplanes involved, or b/c I enjoy laughing at all their BS comments like JFK Jr. flying a Cessna???

There is no substitute for ignorance when it comes to investigative reporting. I wonder what the safety record would be if we only had to be as sharp or have as many facts as the investigative reporter.

Actually, I think A&E's Investigative Reports has the worst track record of all the newsmagazines. Their exposes of topics with which I am familiar have regularly been the most uninformed, the most alarmist, the most generalizing, and the most biased to the left. Objectivity generally takes a back seat to sensationalism with their pieces. It's nice that they covered new technology in GA and talked with several industry advocates, but their overall tone was still that of Flying Deathtraps that Need to be Banned.

I also liked the part about a pilot needing 20 hrs of training and 10 hrs of solo to become licensed.

I just hope the next time I go up my, "engine doesn't stall" in my Cessna Saratoga!

I still have over an hours left until it airs in this great socialist state called California.

What about ultra-lights. No certification process or training to fly one. It raises a flag when these folks with limited training are in a pattern with trained pilots. What happens when proper airport procedures are not followed and one of those weed-wackers with wings takes out a GA? That would be a good topic for Bill to review.

You know, the one thing thats bad about the "Cessna" Saratoga remark.

When JFK Jr did crash, everybody became a Saratoga expert.

I mean, the bubble headed bleach blond on the 5 o'clock news was a piper expert. ("Smugglers Blues")

Its pretty bad after all the hubub about that unfortunate accident, they are entirely missing the boat here.
