Just surious if anyone has new info on Skywest's hiring? I see they are still as always looking for more people. Also I know they are getting about 3 - 700's per month but is this gonna continue. And is pay based on aircraft you fly or seniority based?

What I know

Pay goes by seniority. 50 seaters are payed the same as 70 seaters. The projected hiring will continue until May. After May who knows how hiring will be. Heard from a couple of guys back in training that they are hiring guys from FLYI, and other furloughs.

1000/100. That may or may not be enough to land an interview, depends on any LORs you may have, and from whom. Letters from current SKYW CAs will take you far.

Any idea what equipment they're hiring into right now? Do you normally start out in the turboprops, or is it based on prior experience? For instance if you have a lot of turbine time, they'll put you in a regional jet?

Looks like most newbies are going into the bro, the 1 yr seatlock just ended, so lotsa bro guys are moving to the CRJ. In order to be competivite, looks like u need ~2500TT with 121 or 135 experience.

Most new hires I've been training in the Brasillia have around 1100-1500 total with 120-150 multi. 90% of them have CFI backrounds. Send the resume in! We're hiring like crazy!

There is a one-year seat-lock. They've been pretty much sticking to that with a few minor exceptions (ORD opening). The Bro is better your first year anyway. First year pay is the same and you'll be on reserve a shorter time. Most people move to the jet for 2nd year pay though, as it's about $7/hour more ($27 vs. $34)

Well the problem is is that we live in Chicago (I am based here) and it would work out better if my fiancee didn't have to commute to a Brasilia base. That's the only reason he would rather get the jet right off the bat.

Well, then your fiance would need to get hired into the jet, or commute. ORD is junior on the jet, but if hired into the bro it'll most likely be at least a year. Sorry.

There is no seatlock. 5 people from my bro class from 08-04 have successfully bid for the jet. Their classes start in May and they are split between ORD and DEN. Some new hires with turbine experience will go directly to the jet. Good Luck...

There is a seatlock, mgmt. has the right to lift it if they so desire, which recently they have for F/O's. Plan on a seatlock of 1 year.
