I've noticed the same thing about the younger guys... and it's been getting worse. Had one kid in the jumpseat the other day, didn't even know the bases of his own company (SkyWest). Now, we for sure have quite a few of them, but that was one of the things I got asked in my interview. I would think, that if you were about to work some place that you would want to know as much about the workings of the company as you can. A lot of these guys also have no clue about bidding or anything about airline life.

I'm not talking about the intracacies of PBS either... I'm just talking about the concept of bidding. Not only that, they are leaving the jumpseat ahead of the passengers and going along their merry way no thought of helping out. Also not talking about guys/gals rushing to check in or catch a flight.

No respect, no concept of the biz, and no common courtesy. Whatever happened to ASKING for the jumpseat? They think they are entitled to it...

Enough ranting... back to lurking... tired of having to set these guys straight... something their parents should have done.

Found this in the Denver Post:

Frontier Airlines has issued a request for proposals from communities interested in attracting flights on the carrier's regional jets or turboprop planes.
The Denver-based airline made the request this week to more than 50 communities throughout Colorado and within a radius of about 1,200 miles of Denver.
The move comes as Frontier starts up a subsidiary that will provide service with 74-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop planes beginning in mid-2007. The carrier plans to fly the planes to as many as 18 destinations in Colorado and the Rocky Mountains.
Frontier also plans to expand its fleet of 70-seat regional jets to as many as 20 aircraft and is seeking a new regional-jet operator to replace Horizon Air. According to an analyst report from Raymond James & Associates Inc., SkyWest and Republic airlines are "the likely leaders in the competition for this business."
In Colorado, communities including Steamboat Springs, Grand Junction, Aspen and Vail have expressed interest in Frontier flights. Airports outside Colorado also are interested in luring the carrier.
The turboprops and the regional jets are smaller than Frontier's "mainline" Airbus jets, which seat 114 or 132 passengers.

What about the no compete clause with Yo-Nited?

I wish if this was true that Frontier would put a clause in the contract, that all ASA management would have to be replaced, and SKYW would handle our day to day operations until things would be resolved. I would buy beer for both teams then, but only one each.

I have had many skywest new hires on my jumpseat recently and noticed a trend that most of them are new and carry an attitude. I dont mean it in a bad way but more are very cocky. I dont mean to put down skywest employees or the pilots, but has SW lowered the bar? Most of the SW pilots i know are truely professional and overall good people.

We had a new hire over the weekend jump-seating and he kept on calling us "dude." He was very lound in the cabin and even said some stuff to the flight attendant that was uncalled for. Most of the recent new hires that i have met come in with attitude and i am just surprised. I will elaborate more later since i have to catch my flight.

How about a Skywest newhire literally showing his d!ck around... or people farting out loud in hotels.. read my post few weeks back in this forum.. ..

Ok guys, SkW, Chuck Norris, 9E, ASA, ACA, Walmart, and Parris Hilton is not going to get the RJs. I know this for a fact.

You forgot to include frozen loafs of bread, those hurt. I think that would bring a prison sentance today.

Ouch........never got that...kinda glad I didn't.....

back to bitching.....saw a boy in the terminal the other day, looked around 7 or 8, just whaling on his little sister who looked to be about 2 or 3.......mom and dad were saying, "joey, stop please...joey....joey, stop right now"....all while he's looking them in the eyes and pounding on the poor little girl. My parents woulda probably smacked my ass to the end of the terminal...this kid got time out and learned how to count to three.....end of rant.....

I don't think it's necessarily the airline's (skywest) lowering the bar. . . . I just think it's a new generation of kids starting to get jobs. Most new hires these days at almost any regional are in their early 20's, and have been spoonfed life since they were born. Many don't know how to act in public, and more still think they're owed their position in life, instead of trying to earn it. That being said, I've noticed it too with some of the newer pilots i've been running into. I think they just need a good swift kick in the ass and a stern talking to when they act inappropriately. It's something their parents should have done, but if it has to be done, others should step up without shame. :pimp:

These types wont make it past Skywest or any other regional....hope they enjoy it

Wouldnt be to sure about Paris Hilton.. Dont forget the CRJ is a nice "cute" little plane...

I was afraid this was going to happen. Be patient folks, the timing is being planned for obvious reasons to give the best jumpstart to the new service. Its Skywest folks.
