Go to whoever offers you the first class date, who has bases closest to where you want to be, and who will allow you to make the most money & upgrade the fastest. There may be other factors involved too; only you can decide what is important to you.

Personally, I can't believe that a company as profitable as SKW pays $19.02/hr the first year, doesn't pay during training, and (as I understand it, could be wrong) makes you buy your Jepps the first year.

It would be a good problem to have to decide between these two companies. Good luck...

Your a bit behind on your information. SkyWest does pay for training. Like said otherwise, upgrade varies. There have been people here upgrading fairly quick. Both are good companies in my opinion.

My mistake then, I don't want to spread misinformation. I know a couple people at SKW and they were not paid during training. When did it change?

Do they also make you buy your Jepps the first year? Just wanna make sure I have my facts straight...

They started paying as of Sept. 1st, 2005 I believe. I'm pretty sure it's at a reduced 60/hr month rate as well. I'm not sure when it goes to full guarantee. The funny thing is they haven't had many classes since that time :0.

They don't have to pay for Jepps their entire first year, just the initial subscription. The updates each month are on the company.

I had two friends go there last year and they love it. For them, it was worth not getting paid for a few weeks...

How much is that for the initial subscription? Im sure they have custom coverage so its got to be alot! do they make payroll deduction or alow a pay over time thing?

They allow both, and it's only about 100 bucks.....

Yeah, $100 isn't bad to have to pay your employer to provide you with the nav charts you need to do your job.

But hey, at least they aren't charging you guys for the jet fuel too.

Ya, you're right, it sucks.........but I'm able to live in domicile at home.....The closest regional that would pay for my jepps is in houston or seattle (I don't consider Mesa as an option)........f-that...i'll take the 100 buck hit for QOL any day....
