SkyWest Airlines to Interview Pilot Candidates at Oshkosh

July 18, 2013 - Say you're an airline with openings for quality pilot candidates. Where would you look? SkyWest Airlines decided this year to do so at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and is working with Redbird Flight Simulations at the Redbird exhibit, inviting airline career hopefuls to apply, interview, and prove their pilot skills during the week.

Pilots who meet SkyWest's published minimums (1,500 hours' total time and other criteria) are invited to complete a SkyWest Airlines pilot interview and flight skills test right on the AirVenture grounds.

The process starts at the SkyWest canopy located directly behind the Redbirds exhibit, No. 208. Candidates need to show proof of experience and undergo the verbal portion of the interview.

Next step is a full simulator portion on a full-motion Redbird King Air 350i sim, where applicants will be required to demonstrate airmanship, proficiency, IFR skills, and abilities. While no King Air time is required or expected, proficient IFR skills are mandatory.

SkyWest stresses that these will be real interviews, and the airline may extend conditional job offers to those who successfully complete the process. Applicants from all facets of aviation are encouraged to apply in person at Redbird's AirVenture display. Just look for the SkyWest banner. Casual air show attire is appropriate.

SkyWest Airlines, headquartered in St. George, Utah, currently operates 330 aircraft flying to 175 destinations. In 2012, SkyWest carried 26.2 million passengers.

If you have the money to go to Oshkosh, you have enough money that you don't need a regional. Pilots can't afford airplanes anymore............

Skywest needs pilots with money and good credit, you will need both to endure the 8 year upgrade wait. Reserve on the EMB120 is 75 hours, leaving plenty of time to sit in your SFO crashpad and watch Ellen and Wheel of Fortune.

It depends where u live...for some people going to Oshkosh is VERY cheap!

This might be wise targeting. Where better than Oskosh to find some people with ATP min's and financial stability. Think of the successful longtime private pilot who sold his company to retire at 55. He's(she's) got time, he's got savings, he always looks at jets at the airport. Genius.

They actually might get both of those guys, but after training, and being based 1700 miles from home, the TDY reserve and RDY reserve will convince them that 3 laps around the patch on Saturday was a much better way to fly around. Add a big fat dose of 16 hour days for 3.57 and multiple reflows to reinforce that working for any airline was a questionable decision, Skywest included. Don't mistake desperation for genius, the people willing to come to the scat show is declining, and the pilots desperate to escape said scat show is increasing by the minute, equals empty classrooms at any price.

Go to Skywest and get paid the same as a gojets pilot. I thought they had like a billion in the bank tho how can they still pay the same as gojets?

Yeah,
But you don't have to turn your ID around and hide like a scat eating dog. Isn't Hulas waiting for his rimjob from you?

Oh man, wish we could do some informational picketing there!
Where's that big ALPA rat thing they drove around on a truck? :D
