Just curious how firm the mins are? They are now published as 1000 and 100, I have over 800 tt and almost 200 multi. Is skywest firm on the tt requirement even if i have almost double the multi requirement? Thanks for any info.

this is due to the large volume of newhires needed over the next month, northwest agreement to be annoucenced very soon.

Please change the topic ... its misleading because the minimums have been 1000/100 for a *very long* time .. I've got many friends at Skywest and they've all told me its firm .. even 900/600 won't help.

dang it, thats what i got. maybe in a couple more months.

The mins should be 1000/100/100.

Because even with those minimums, you've got a 1/100 chance of getting in. Most people I met who got in had much, much more time than that. Unlike Eagle or Xjet.

My freind went to the skywest career fair in Chicago before Christmas. He said most of the other guys applying there had turbine experience and he left feeling very inexperienced.

He's got 2100TT, 800multi and 135 experience. He showed them his resume and they said how much turbine experience do you have? he said none and they put a big brizillia stamp on it. The minimums back then were 1000 and 100 or something like that and he far exceeded the minimums.

My point is there is a big difference between published and competitive minimums.

What do you mean NWA agreement. Is Skywest in competition for NWA flying??

Yeah, NWA agreement...right. We're getting Airbuses, too. Didn't you hear? Keep swallowing those rumors until we agree on another substandard pay package. Then, I have a feeling they'll mysteriously disappear.

That is why I asked; to find out whether or not this was a rumor. Apparently, it is. I know that NWA has the ability to shop for a 3rd regional partner. They have options for 150+ CRJ 200's. So far they are very conservative in converting them into firm orders for Pinnacle. Thanks for the reply though.

T-prop, sorry if I was rude. My comments were directed at NoName. I'm very frustrated by these baseless rumors. Anyone at SkyWest heard, "Just wait until the new year. BIG NEWS coming!" from numerous sources througout the last few months of '04. Well, aside from the closure of IAH, I've heard nothing new.

Excellent point.

Does anybody remember in the late 90's UAL advertised a min of 350 fixed wing PIC to apply. Did anybody think there was a snowballs chance in hell a white male off the street would ever get picked up there.

Yeah, it sucks, but it's reality.

Interestingly, I jumpseated once a United flight and the captain had gotten on with UAL with 900 hours TT in the late '90's. He was an intern with them and just happened to meet the right people and he went straight from college to Big Blue. And this gentelman is a white male.

I realize that this person was definitely not the norm, but it did happen back then.

150 CRJs!! I thought the agreement was for 40 CRJs and that Pinnacle and Mesaba were not allowed to get the flying. Furthermore, I thought the RJs would only be used to "penetrate a new market" (i.e. US Airways going out of business). Does anyone have any information regarding the NWA bid?

What is upgrade at Skywest. I keep hearing 12 months in the Bro if you were hired last summer. Is this true?

Ahh, another interesting point. However, re-read my post and pay attention the "off the street" reference. By that I mean, not an intern, not sons-and-daughters, not OBAP, not WIA, not the 99's, ect, get the point?

Not trying to start a fire. Yeah, the guy that helped me get my current job (which I am about to get furoulghed from) was hired at Pan Am in the 60's with
400 hours into the DC-8. But that was a much different time, along with a much different pay check, qol. ect.

No offense taken, doj. Wasn't overlooking your off-the-street remark. I was just interjecting a story. The one-off guy that I mentioned just sticks in my memory because he's probably the only person that I can really recall meeting that got on with a major with under 1500 TT, regardless of the connections or lack thereof.
