SkyWest losing gates to Delta in SLC

Delta was asking to sell ASA, skywest set it up so when Delta came out of BK they wouldn't get porked. That's what happens when people are against the wall. It was fair. Delta was in BK on their own account, crummy leadership (mullins). Now you are going to get it again with that crew you got in there, maybe not BK but some kind of screwover. I am glad I aint in your boat. Do you think you aren't going to get screwed over by Delta in the next decade. If not ask anyone who has come before you in the last 30 years. It aint the rjs idiot.

I think Gen PeePants will soon get a wake-up call.. A bunch of funny-looking 737s will show up soon enough and kick the living dog snot out of our intrepid hero.

This will occur, after DAL pulls back most of its hugely over-extended, money-losing intl ops. Another bright idea from the brain trust!

Huh? Say what McFry? Who's gonna show up? A bunch of 737s? There aren't enough gates in ATL to allow a "bunch" of a new planes from any new airline into the area. If you are talking about some corndogs, we already compete directly with them in SLC, going to a lot of the same cities. They actually help us mainline guys out a bit, since the cities they serve from SLC have some actual DL mainline planes pitted against them. Our management knows that putting many RJs up against them isn't very smart. And as of right now ATL is pretty full, and I am sure Airtran would want those old NWA gates there anyway. But, if you say so McFry...... Hey, I hear you got new Employee of the Month at McRonalds. I am glad you are aiming high. Now, what did I say about eating those urinal cakes? That is a no no.

Well, more specifically it was because your incompetent management mismanaged their cash during the bankruptcy and gave OO about the most lucrative 50-seat contract in the industry. You now have NW management, so I doubt things will change for the better.

They may, but it just doesn't seem likely.

There MAY be a loophole to the foreign ownership AFTER the company has been established. I don't know the law, do YOU? He has a plan or he would not have set it up as he did with the buyback feature to guarantee the original investment. As far as airplane availabilty, there are probably plenty of airbusses available at any time.
So, all of the Alaska attornies are WRONG. Yeah, those guys up in SEA don't know how to read the laws...... And, you don't think Branson was EXPECTING to lose any investors when he started VA, did you? He probably didn't see the credit crunch, or any other financial calamities coming our way .....RIIIIIIGHT.

Lawyers don't have to be right. They just have to be shown the money--and they will create issues with some merit--at least enough to get the motions going. The real harm now is because of all the bad loans made in the past few years, thanks to the legislative leadership of YOUR Barney Frank and Reid--YOUR Democrats and their majority buddies. I think our economy will be harmed to the point that you may be back in an RJ because no one will be able to afford to fly with all the taxes they will be paying. In addition, the European ecocomy will not recover until the US economy improves--maybe never! What will happen to all those non-profitable flights to Europe? Sounds like they are going to axe some of them later this fall? Can you shrink into profitability?

Was that ALL OBAMA'S FAULT? Nope. And, we ALWAYS cut European flights in the FALL. Not as many travel there. So, we will trim capacity like WE ALWAYS DO. We also shift Europe flights to South America, and do better during their own Summer (our Winter). You flying for a regional obviously didn't know that. Our route planning guys PLAN for those things to happen, and shift stuff around EVERY YEAR.

Bush didn't underwrite bad loans. AIG did. Barney and Reid helped create the bad loan environment. Bush had no choice but to push for legislative bail out. Your European flights are getting deep cuts and yes South American is taking up some of the slack--but not enough. You don't have a corner on route information. There is usually a shiift. But if you haven't heard, there is a world recession going on and maybe even a depression if credit markets don't loosen up. By the way, Pacific routes are hurting also.

Lawyers who work for an airline get paid a salary. You knew that, right? They didn't hire the ghost of Jonnie Cochran. And, you are right, Branson never thought the credit market would crash---he never THOUGHT he would have to pay those two hedge funds their money PLUS interest back. Guess what? It happened...

That is a good start. And when will it ever go to 50% for taxes? Oh, I guess you are listening to Rush and Sean and they are saying it, so it must be so. Listen to Glen Beck and you will want to shoot yourself after each show. Obama is raising the tax from 36 to 39% AFTER the first $250,000. Did you know after WWII the tax rate was in the 90% area? In the early 60's it was in the 70% range. If you are complaining about an extra 3% from 36 to 39%---you must be an Airline Executive--you cheap a$$.

I never said Bush underwrote the loans, but the whole world is hurting, not just the U.S. of A. I guess that is all Obama's fault, right? Those Republican Fat Cats made some BAD choices and gambled away a lot of money. And you want to give them more tax cuts? Trickle down, right? Riiiiiight. And our European flights have ALWAYS leaned out during the Fall and Winter months. But now we have planes that can take lighter loads and still keep marketshare--the 757ERs. Years ago we only had 767ERs, and they may have been too big during certain months. Not anymore. And yes, the Pacific routes aren't immune to slower times--which is great because now we can put those 767ERs that were on the Atlantic stuff to cover the 744 and A330 routes that are weaker in the Pacific. Fleet flexibility--look into it.

Which party had control of the purse strings(legislative branch) from 1994-2006? Control of the executive branch from 2000-2008 and the judicial during a majority of this timeframe? Now, are you telling me that bulk of the damage has been done since the 2006-2008 timeframe when the dems took control???

Your simple questions and the answer you would seek do not adequately explain the problems or the mess we find ourselves in, today. There is plenty of blame to go around for both parties.

Can one party be blamed totally?
Can one party find the solution totally?
Will things change--or will it be more of the same?
Do you know what caused the failures of these large companies and the subsequent bailout of the chosen ones?
Why were credit requirements changed for people who did not qualify for home loans so that they could qualify?
What legislation and who were the champions of that legislation that forced lending institutions to loan money to uncreditworthy applicants by any former traditional standard of credit review?
Why were those sub-standard loans underwritten by AIG and transferred throughout the industry?
Why were gas prices allowed to be manipulated by banks and the former Enron executives that they hired who had the knowledge to do so, driving energy costs through the roof?
Since energy is so closely tied to National Security and the Nation's Economic welfare, should energy cost be regulated?

I am not a Bush fan, but he created Obama! I do not think Obama will restore order with his current policies--apparently I am not alone! Higher tax rates are coming--there is no other way to pay the deficit.

Have your day in the sun--the honeymoon is coming to an end! We will all suffer together--just some more than others. Bragging rights will be moot!
