Skywest Lax base?

Just wondering if skywest has a LAX base, I heard somebody talking about it but can't find it listed as one of their bases...

It's only a reserve base. There is 4 Brasilia crews and 6 RJ crews based there.

yep..it's reserve only....pretty nice place to be based if you don't want to fly and get paid for it (at least that's how the last 6 months have been for me).......you can take my spot though, i need to get off this top ramen diet...

How does a reserve base work? What's the purpose? Why do they need reserves to sit in a base if trips don't originate there? Just curious

Because people do get sick while on a trip in places like Inyokern and it's easier to get someone to IYK from LAX instead of FAT. Also most soCal flying either originates or terminates (legs, not trips) in LAX.

In case a crewmember or F/A gets ill, or calls in sick at one of our smaller bases. It's easier to get the flight covered that way. SFO is also a reserve base.

we also have a policy where we can break off of a trip at a hub, so if for whatever reason you need to stop working that day, you can end your trip in LA and one of the reserves will pick it up......this can be planned ahead too...

it's relatively new, but there's only 2 Fo's based there.....not too senior, but you'll have to wait for them to leave (or the company to expand the base) before you can get it
