jbDC9 said:Dude, I've thought about it quite a lot... but I do like the irony here. For years mainline CAL has been crying "scope" for all those RJ's taking mainline flying, and now it's funny (to me) to see the RJ guys are now crying "scope" themselves since SKW is here. I know, I know, it's a crappy scope clause in a crappy contract, but I was hired late '97, too junior to vote on C'97; just had to sit back and watch it happen.
The beloved "flow thru" agreement... seems to me you're talking from both sides of your mouth. Yes, in happier times pilots flowed up to mainline, but sometimes it's gonna go the other way. So, the flow thru is good when we're all moving up, but when it flows back down, we hate it, it's just not fair... huh? XJT still has new jets coming and is expanding with new routes, plus new hire classes are getting started... while mainline is stagnant, still shrinking under the weight of all those RJs. Oh right, we're starting to recall... but it barely covers retirements and attrition. You'll get that left seat back soon enough; happy now? And it wasn't just you that lost your beloved capt. seat, there's still a large number of 737 captains (mainly CLE) that lost their left seat as well and have been FO's for the past 2+ years. I'm sure they feel your pain.
"it's irresponsible to say that we don't want to fly those 120's" Oh, my bad... I read Obi Wan's earlier post where it sounded as if he were bragging about the fact that XJT is all jet now, no silly props like Skywest has. So I guess some XJT guys like the 120s and others are embarrassed by them...
HEY HDA,Hey Obi Wan!! Good thing that XJET doesnt fly props cause from what I hear you cant fly them either!!

walpaper said:Sounds like you have flown with one too many SCABS. You are starting to sound like them - trust no one, blame everyone, they're all out to get you. Remember, the XJT pilots don't determine which routes go to the RJ; that's the job of CAL Marketing. Call them and vent your frustrations where they belong. And for the record, I think all jet flying under the COA code should be done by CAL pilots. Funny, the chance for the ultimate scope is a SSL away, right under the CAL pilots nose, yet they are too jaded to see it. Believe it or not, the XJT pilots are on your side. That's a lot of unity the CAL pilots could use and so badly need. We want to see the flying shifted back to 737's because that is where our future is as well. Think about it rationally and you might be suprised by what you find.

He rode jumpseat one day to MFE and I asked why we couldn't do a SSL... he blathered on spouting stuff about the "minor leagues" and working your way up... that was all well and good 10-12 years ago, before the RJ showed up. It's a whole new industry now and those old farts don't want to acknowledge it. Sucks ass...
I'm done, sorry to hijack the thread again... continue on with the Skywest stuff.

maybe because our contract was signed in 1997 and your employee handbook came out in 2001. Also, last time I checked XJT had 225 jets on board with another 50 comming in the next 2 years and options for 100 more. The flowbacks are on their way out. The other thing we have at XJT is this thing called a union. The same union that got fuloughed XJT and UAL pilots jobs at Skywest with no interview, you might have heard of it, ALPA. My friends that work at Skywest and have been there 3 years are not jet capt's yet. Last time I checked we are doing 48 upgrades a month. Oh yeah, and we dont fly props.
