Well with the money in the bank and the fact that we are 1 of 3 airlines that can do leverage leases if we had to go on our own I would be we would have a better chance then most.
This also makes you a prime target for a hostile take over. They will leverage your own assets to buy you.
Here is a link to SkyWest's 4th quarter earnings report for 2003 including a year end report of 2003. They have around $480 million cash on hand
Is that why they are paying you the same rate for the 70 seater?

Kind of hard to run an ALPA MEC when 2 entire LEC's are made up of SCABS and the negotiatiing committee are SCABS, Oh yeah and the MEC chairman is a SCAB!

To be more specific, the CAL IAH LEC 171 is made up of strikebreakers and yes they are looney. The CAL FI LEC 178 has only one status rep. He is former Texas International and unfortunately a strikebreaker because he is actually a good guy. The other CAL LECs do not have any. The CAL Negotiating Committee also does not contain any scabs. Two of the NC members are from Peoples Express and the other one is a CALEX flow-up and former Express Captain Rep.

You are correct that our MEC chairman is a scab, but I will tell you that he thinks absolutely nothing like the rest of them. If there ever was a strikebreaker that deserves forgiveness it would be him. If you want to know why he did what he did twenty years ago, go ask him. His answer will suprise you!

Frats,
Now the former IAH 175 FO Rep (yippie, now I am just a line grunt!)

PS: There is a difference between the Old CAL and TI strikebreakers and the '83-'84 Turbo-Scabs, for the most part with a few exceptions.

What about the Guam reps I thought they were SCABS? I know the whole story of JP's crossing sad, but that doesn't mean the rest of the pilot group should have hired him as MEC chairman!

I just rode into ABI the other night on the Jet and couldn't help but notice Eagle overnighting a E140, so I think that this is probably the reason we started flying back into these cities again.

Or, maybe those cities were originally advertised by XJT as being served by regional jets. When the customers saw the E-120, they took some action and XJT was gonna get its a$$ sued.

That's why the Jet is going to ABI and SJT now.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

Well, you got me! I just did a check on the new GUM captain rep and he is on the List. When I was in office (until just yesterday) neither of the GUM reps were scabs, although sometimes they may have acted like it. Even though I had some very fundamental disagreements with the former captain rep we still got along and could hang out and drink loads of beer together:). That former CA Rep is now the GUM FO rep.

The reason we voted in JP as MEC chair was frankly he has balls and a willingness to stand up towards management. It has been a pleasure to work with him.

Eagle also flies a E140 into SJT once a day. As long as Eagle keeps doing this, I think that this flying will eventually return to XJT, but only time will tell.

Sorry JS, SkywestCRJ was correct above. It is because of the reasons he mentioned above.

I think you meant to say XJT is taking "BACK" their flying not taking OVER?!

Skywest "TOOK OVER" flying to these XJT cities in XJT EMB-120's.

This is a VERY touchy subject for us at XJT. XJT and CAL have 0% SCOPE. I can guarantee you with help from CALALPA XJT will have SCOPE on this new contract!

Can't guarantee you anything about CAL because their half of CALALPA is so dysfuctional. I am suprised FOX TV has not made a reality TV show of the IAH LEC's Follies!

Come on boys, let's keep this to the crackpipe!

Sure cracks me up to see XJT guys cry "SCOPE! SKW is taking over our sandbox!! Waahhhhh!!" Relax fellas, XJT has taken over so much mainline flying that you shouldn't even miss the SKW stuff... besides, XJT doesn't want to fly those itty bitty turboprops anyway, right??

Is that crackpipe worthy?

Dude...think through the issue a little bit. We have (had) a flow-through agreement. In good times, pilots from XJT went north to CAL. And in the past 2 1/2 years, over 400 Continental pilots came back to ExpressJet and of those, roughly 330 were instant Captains at $50,000 to 60,000 per year, with 2/3 of those having never even flown at XJT. And I think it is irresponsible to say that we don't want to fly those 120's. I see the very same 120, ship #12734 running around to ABI and MLU and CLL, but flown by Skywest pilots. Yea, it burns. Just like it burns CAL pilots that we are flying CLE-DEN. Too bad they the Captains on those flights are most likely CAL pilots themselves, just flying at XJT, who bumped me down 400 numbers and out of my Captain seat pre-9/11.

Off soapbox.

Dude, I've thought about it quite a lot... but I do like the irony here. For years mainline CAL has been crying "scope" for all those RJ's taking mainline flying, and now it's funny (to me) to see the RJ guys are now crying "scope" themselves since SKW is here. I know, I know, it's a crappy scope clause in a crappy contract, but I was hired late '97, too junior to vote on C'97; just had to sit back and watch it happen.

The beloved "flow thru" agreement... seems to me you're talking from both sides of your mouth. Yes, in happier times pilots flowed up to mainline, but sometimes it's gonna go the other way. So, the flow thru is good when we're all moving up, but when it flows back down, we hate it, it's just not fair... huh? XJT still has new jets coming and is expanding with new routes, plus new hire classes are getting started... while mainline is stagnant, still shrinking under the weight of all those RJs. Oh right, we're starting to recall... but it barely covers retirements and attrition. You'll get that left seat back soon enough; happy now? And it wasn't just you that lost your beloved capt. seat, there's still a large number of 737 captains (mainly CLE) that lost their left seat as well and have been FO's for the past 2+ years. I'm sure they feel your pain.

"it's irresponsible to say that we don't want to fly those 120's" Oh, my bad... I read Obi Wan's earlier post where it sounded as if he were bragging about the fact that XJT is all jet now, no silly props like Skywest has. So I guess some XJT guys like the 120s and others are embarrassed by them...

Not talking out of both side of my mouth at all. I have never had one bit of ill will about the FTA, upwards or downwards. It just sucks that the CAL end of the MEC is ready to torpedo the chance of a future FTA when 400 of their constituents got instant captain jobs these past 2 years. Bummer for us at XJT since there will be 2200 retirements at CAL over the next 10 years.

And yep, I do feel the pain for the $180,000/year 737 Captain who went to $125-140,000 job in the right seat. It sucks because I have been making barely a fifth of that the past few years. Can't wait for our new contract to be signed...

HEY HDA,
I'll make a few points.
1) Thats is not my quote.
2) I do not believe we know each other or flown together.
3) You are a 1100 hour 1900 FO and not Chuck Yeager, so go Fuk yourself. Get of my Dick and tell your biatch to come over here.
Yours truely,
Obi-wan
