I doubt it. Mesa has a pretty iron clad contract for exclusive feed out of PHX.

Not only that, but wasn't Airways trying to reduce the number of contract carriers, not build it?

Anybody heard this?

and what about Northwest Airlink flying out of MSP or Expressjet flying out of Houston??? haha. come on guys. Every company is out there trying to obtain more flying. believe it when it happens.

Only way I could see this happening is if Skywest were to purchase AWAC, which would not be ot of the realm of possibilites......

Mesa's contract is iron clad! US Airways wanted to get Mesa out of it and send 10-12 Dash 8's by PDT to replace there Dash Operation!!! No Dice However!! I think it ends 2007.

heard it at work...

I'm sure they'd like our 90 for 50 seat rates. They'd make so much money they'd be able to pay whatever fine or lawyer bills they'd get slapped with as a result of breaking the Mesa contract!

And they'd rid themselves of The Evil Mesa!

Mwa-ha-ha-ha!

But seriously, St. George has been beyond quiet since the ASA purchase announcement.

Either:

A) This is the new SkyWest (silence)

or

B) They are furiously busy working on something! (we just don't know what the 'something' is)

I f you listen to their earnings call they are actually overextended with the ASA thing.

Which is the same it has always been. Nothing but silence out of SGU for as long as I've been here.

2014, a long time away

Nope. Sooner. 2012.

During our groundschools one of the execs...usually Parker...will come in and answer questions. When I was in groundschool back in September Scott Kirby, VP of Marketing spoke to us.

Someone asked him about Mesa and Kirby was very frank about AWA management's dissapointment with Mesa. He stated that AWA's previous management under Bill Franke signed the Mesa contract and if it had been up to current management they never would have done it. He led us to believe that they had no intention of resigning Mesa and if it was up to him he would drop Mesa right now...but it would be too expensive to break the contract. We all heard it firsthand.

(For those of you who don't know...Bill Franke is a bigger a-hole than Johnny O. Yes...he is.)

This is one of the reasons why we are going to get the EMB-190's.

We receive so many complaints from passengers that fly on flights with Mesa flight numbers. You see, the average passenger does not realize they are flying on Mesa. They think they are flying on AWA/USA because that is what the ticket says. And essentially they are right. We sold them the ticket so we should be responsible for the "experience". Kirby thinks that getting rid of Mesa would be a good start fixing the damage. I agree.

I don't have a crystal ball and I don't know what exactly the future holds but I can tell you for sure that our management does not like Mesa.

I don't wish any of you Mesa people ill will but we will be happy when Mesa is gone.

By 2012 anything could happen nice try though. Mesa could be the next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is about as unintelligent of a response as I've seen.

************************* you prick. I was talking about our contract with Mesa. I've never hoped someone would lose their job.

I'll tell you what? Why don't you PM me with your name and we can meet up and talk about it?

You little chickensh!t loser.

or C) they are browning their shorts---knowing they will get nothing more and LIKE IT.

Even JA stated in that SLC article "If the DL pilots let us, we would like to fly 90 seaters for DL." Guess what JA?---NO!!!! Oh, but you can fly 90 seaters with 70 seats in them----with lie flat beds for frequent flyers, and 60" pitch for the other seats. Sounds comfy!!

Sounds like United's premium service, which would be a good idea if DL would charge more for the seats

Don't be so quick to knock it, General Lee. Personally, I think putting exPlus service (booked as first class, but really more of a business class experience) on RJs was one of the smartest things United has ever done. If you're going to put the few remaining high-dollar and/or loyal frequent fliers on an RJ for 3 hours, you at least might as well give them a nice place to sit. We've had a lot of people, even coming from the back of the plane, say what a nice experience it was (flying on the 700).

The 700 is a heck of a lot more comfortable than the 200 to begin with (can't speak for the 170, as I've never done more than tour one). The Economy Plus seating is pretty good, too. A lot more comfortable than a middle seat in a mainline plane.

Up to this point, all Big Delta has done is torture its regional frequent fliers by sticking them on miserable old CRJ-200s (or worse), or 70-seat 700s with no relief on space. 70 seats on a 900 with a big first class section might be just what the doctor ordered. Of course you have to charge enough for the seats to begin with, as Viper pointed out.

Fly-n-hi - Can dish it out, but can't take it ????

You don't think anyone here at Mesa is going to lose THEIR job when/if we lose the USAir contract?

It's ok for you to wish that on Mesa pilots (by obvious implication), but you can't take a little of that back in return?

Hey . . . here's a more professional resolution: Parker WORKS WITH MESA over the next few years to IMPROVE SERVICE. Parker has the big stick . . . he should use it, rather than grit his teeth for years then dump Mesa.

I think it would be great if SkyWest or ASA had the same deal, but only on 70 seaters, not 90. SkyWest UA flies their CR7s (not -705s or CR9s) with 66 seats, and 3 classes---first, econ plus, and econ--and we should do the same. I disagree with the wish list for plane size, that's all.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Soverytired...that was REALLY uncalled for. He cleary stated that it was nothing personal against employees - just our management.

I would have to agree with Fly-n-hi that Mesa deserves to lose the contract. It has nothing to do with the pilots and f/a's...we do an amazing job WHEN YOU CONSIDER the crappy training and support we get from the company.

Management has demonstrated time and again that they have little or no concern for customer service issues, and their attitude could come back to bite them. The only time they begin to care is when HP/US puts a gun to their heads.

Maybe it didn't occur to you, but USA/AWA goes out of business, Mesa will have effectively lost that contract and many of your pilots will have lost their jobs. If you're tied to a sinking ship, chances are that you'll go to the bottom as well.

Don't even go there, bro.

AWA has not hired as many pilots over the past 7-8 years while Mesa has so essentially I could say that we have lost jobs to you.

Soverytired said:

I want AWA flying done by AWA pilots. I don't care where you go. Besides, Mesa wouldn't lose anything. You would end up undercutting some other regional to fly for Northwest or American or XYZ airlines like you have been doing.

Here's a more professional solution: We get rid of you and do our own flying. That's the way it should be.

I wouldn't have anything to say about Mesa if it weren't for the fact that the planes say America West on the side.

Like I have said before I don't have anything against your people. I have something against your airline. I wish you luck but not at our expense.

You've chosen to work at an airline that has a terrible reputation. You've chosen to work at an airline that is run by one of the biggest A-holes in the industry. Then you act suprised or shocked when the rest of us have negative things to say about Mesa?

blueridge71,

You beat me to it. Although you were alot nicer about it than I was going to be so it's probably a good thing.
